We have a metal scrap yard here that is pretty good to deal with,
might try and find a flywheel of sorts for a base, have the rest in my hidden stash of metal.
I have a turntable off of a logging truck trailer bunk on my present grinders.
I think Brads got friends in the proper places, 'Scrap Metal Gods' !!! I run on luck!!

Nice grinder! I brought home an old 8" Delta from the mill that looked like that. Motor wouldn't start, just hummed and locked up, start winding wasn't engaging or was cooked. So they gave it to me, turned out it was fried though and there was nothing I could do. So I stripped what parts I could from it and chucked the main motor/arbor part.
Something that works good for a grinder stand base is a big old chain sprocket. We have many at the mill that are a good 1" thick and 18" diameter or more; they sit perfectly flat and solid and are NICE and heavy. I see worn-out ones come into our scrapyard from the various mills and mines all the time here, not sure what they'd want to buy one.

When I do that I get lost in there for far too long, lots of great lookin stuff in there. All my air gear runs CEJN fittings, only thing I ever replaced on anything was the rubber O ring in the air couplers in the shop, they get a lot of heavy use.

Air compressor again
Okay,I took some notes on what a couple of you have told me in regards to give the air compressor a bit of a tune up so to speak before I ran the compressor.I replaced the relief valve with the original part.I changed the oil in the cylinder SAE30W designed for compressors,non detergent.Let me tell you that was a ##### to do.I manged to only spill a small amount on the garage floor.I think I saw a picture where someone had put an extension tube to replace the oil plug and capped it off,that would be the cat's ass.Was that one of you guys,maybe it was Chris.I fired it up and it is very quiet,it cut out at 125PSI as rated.I have a crappy hose and air gun so hooked that up, and sprayed a little air around.Pressure started to drop and then the compressor kicked in but forgot to see at what pressure.I have to replace the Fisher Price regulator gauge as it is really hard to read and I don't believe, accurate.

Okay the picture I was thinking of for the oil drain modification was not on this site ,my appoligies.But I think this clever idea would work on mine and save spilling oil all over the place in the future,it replaces the strandard oil drain plug .What do you guys think?

Lawrence - yeah, putting an extension on the oil drain like that is a great modification. It's the first thing I do to any lawn tractor engines etc. I work on, otherwise the oil drain is right at the engine case and you have to tip it up sideways to actually get it to 'pour' out and not just run all over the side of the engine and chassis. I haven't used a valve in any like that though, that would make it even easier!
I bought this last year because I got a really good price on it, and today was the first time I actually got a chance to use it much.
Bosch make really nice tools. It has a really good toolless blade clamp. My last saw you had to use an allen wrench, what a PIA trying to keep from losing the stupid wrench.
This also came with a real carrying case, with metal latches even.:msp_thumbup:

I have the RS15, I like mine too, that rafter hook that Bosch puts on their tools should be a mandatory thing that every manufacturer should put on.

I bought this last year because I got a really good price on it, and today was the first time I actually got a chance to use it much.

A little footnote to firing up my new to me air compressor.When I bled the air out of the tank no rust came out this time.I think that's a bonus.I know,I know, enough already of the air compressor!

Great to see you on the thread ClayKann! Someone on here will be able to give you some information on the best way to go with a cleaning solution.Hopefully one that is not too expensive but does the trick
