The cops should go where the vandalized tree is and look who's view was improved. Then they should go to that persons house and give em the third degree, you know, smack em around, untill they confess. Then the city should sieze thier property and make them work on forestry crew for a few years. That will take care of this problem.

Trail cams are neat and all but they have a distinct disadvantage at night, the flash is pretty darn obvious. The tresspasser simply just walks up to camera and takes it or comes back with bolt cutters and takes it. Heck even a sludge hammer would destroy any camera even if modified given just a little time. However, there is a company that makes a remote trail cam that can send a picture in real time up to your reciever 2 miles away but its $2k to start. Cheap compared to the loss of the trees.

A lady was convicted and fined for poisoning some trees that blocked her view, it drew outrage, as did the lady who had a whack of trees cut down on the other side of the city to improve her view. Here is a sample of what people in Vancouver had to say about it. http://www.discovervancouver.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=58582

Had you heard about the latest one? Someone just outside Victoria had trees on their property cut halfway through with a hand saw, so that they blew over in the next windstorm.

There was also the case a couple months back where a developer hacked down 80 trees on 2 lots in Vancouver. Supposedly they only hired a landscaper to cut the grass and trim some bushes, then magically the trees got cut down as well.
