i just replaced the cylinder and piston on my ts 350 with a golf.. the piston hits the top of the cylinder and stops. I was reusing the old head gasket is that likely the problem? what if is stacked a couple of gaskets to get the clearance i need? any ideas?

Hmmm. Something's not right. You might be able to stack gaskets, but then you'll have less intake duration. I'd be looking for another piston.

Send your POS Golf back. They are really crappy. You get what you pay for.
There are are other sources of TS350 pistons (Italian, for one) that have decent quality control...
Don't stack gaskets. They will pack out and you'll end up with an air leak or cracked cylinder.
