Received two 660s this week.

The one I'm not sure of the condition. It appears that the cylinder is good, but other than that, I don't know. The other one has a little bit of a connecting rod bearing problem, lol.

I guess we'll have to see what I come up with for the other. Either way, I got them for the cost of the shipping - $29.

Thought I'd update the (limited) progress of these saws. The one with the bad crankcase has been parted out and crankcase traded for parts I needed for my 024/026 frankensaws. The other saw makes noise when I spray it, so I think I will get a carb kit for it, pressure test and see what she can do. I've got the spare cylinder washed and I think I'll get it ready to try some port work. Probably going to practice on some of my fried cylinders first.

So I cleared off the bench and got the 660 on there. What do you guys think of this piston? The cylinder looks fine, but just makes me a little nervous. Think it would be fine to just flatten the top of the piston and roll with it? (I didn't scratch the arrow into it, btw - that's how I found it)

It has to be from the failure of the crank bearing or something. Suppose small pieces of the rod or the crank bearing itself chipped off and got into the cylinder. That's all I can think could have happened unless it war run without the filter and got a chunk of something else hard in there :dunno:?

Here it is, ready to get back into it.

If your cylinder is good (check the squish band for damage) why chance it with an obviously damaged piston?

You do make a good point. It appears there are a couple small spots on the squish, so I may try and get my friend to help me cut the squish to remove the damage and either get a new piston or just use the one that's on the saw now. Not in any real hurry.

Well, swapped out the carb, fuel line, fuel filter, and get one running.

Now I just need a few more parts to get the 660 ready to rock 'n roll. Anybody have an extra clutch cover and/or spikes?

I'll trade you brand new ones in the packaging for the other saw with fried crank.

Unfortunately, I already parted with the case to the other. I still have some parts left. Send me a PM and maybe we can work something out.
