Using a Tach

I have them now so I use them.They are not necessary with a unlimited coil but I like them for a limited coil.

Yes. I have a Tiny-Tach. I live at 4,200 feet but cut often at 8,000 - 10,000 feet. I do a quick high altitude tune with the tach before cutting. Very easy. Only on High Needle. I don’t typically need to adjust the Low.

I use a tach on four strokes, specifically generators but rarely saws.

I prefer to tune in the wood under load, so no real need for a tach. Best practice as far as I am concerned.
