You are the one that said they would not let you demo a saw.
That is on you and there is no reason for a foul mouth.
I wonder if your mouth is why they do not let you demo saws
I have never been told no.

You carry on
They don't let ANYBODY demo ANYTHING at ANY local saw shop...

We don't have any dealers that will let you demo a saw anymore either. The last one got bought out about a year ago by power pro, and the other had to stop for liability reasons.

Ya that makes sense. Someone gets hurt trying out a saw, that could become a real problem

Find a new shop
yeah right, just told you IDK how many times, there are none that will let anyone demo a saw, I've been to every shop in the area and no way in hell im driving 3+ hours to a shop just because they let people demo saws

who gives a **** if you can demo a saw anyways? seriously, no need to

Attitude is 100%
You ever consider that?
So if you go to the truck dealership and cop an attitude?
Do they still let you test drive a truck or tell you to pound salt?
I cannot remember how many vehicles I have had on extended test drives over the weekend
Hell one tractor dealer let us have a tractor all Spring.
Attitude is 100%

Be nice
Be cordial
Be serious
Be a customer that they appreciate

DO NOT be an ass

DO NOT be an ass
I'm never an ass, unless I'm dealing with people as stupid as you are that just cannot seem to understand simple little ****

go back to inhaling your illegally burnt tires and leave the rest of us alone, maybe go back to ********* and cry about it over there?

Maybe not many, usually smaller shops, in more rural areas, but there’s definitely a few out there that will still let you demo

When I was delivering auto parts about a year ago, IIRC, it was a Carquest store, in Duvall, WA, slowp may know it, but like in many small towns, that store sold a Lot of things, OPE among them, I know they sold Stihl, but they had a good size log 🪵 out front for demoing on, there were fresh cuts, and sawdust every so often, and the logs got changed out every so often as well

When I was working the tele-comm account in Lincoln City, OR. I bought my Husky 562XP, from Orsborn’s saw shop, and as I recall they asked if I wanted to try it before I buy it, I thanked them, but I’m pretty familiar with Huskies, and knew what to expect from it, and it was Friday afternoon, and I had a couple hours to get home after being gone all week.

I don’t know where you are on “Earth” but out West maybe it’s different than wherever you are

Yeah, I know Bill can irritate some people,
I get it, and Bill will shrug off whatever you say about him,
But that below the belt kick about his Mom was Completely Out of Line, that was a real “Richard” comment

Your above post is a very good indication of why dealers probably do not allow you to demo equipment.

One of independent servicing saw shops here has a large log upstairs to demo saws on. The "showroom" is on the first floor but the service area is on the second and the storage is on the third. He is basically a one man operation so he closes the store and 5PM and heads upstairs to service equipment til the wee hours. The old Homelite and Pioneer dealer is still in business but of course does not have any new saw lines. He does just enough outboard repair to pay the power bill. He heats the place with wood. If someone would walk in there with attitude he would walk them to the door

Looking at saws and a couple old times told me they ran stihl and husky in there company and they found husky lasted the best with way less repairs,
What do you loggers find?
Ive NEVER had any of my saws repaired unless I dropped them with broken parts. I keep them running with the factory mix, keep them clean and keep the air filters cleaned. I've never had to have them tuned or replaced or altered in any way by a tech. I have multiple 260s and 170s over the years and an olf 44 that cranks awesome and none have failed me unless I just ran them into the ground with overuse like the 270 I ran years ago.

All Stihl. All the time

I have many Stihl and Husky saws. I would not be scared to buy either one. They both make quality saws. It is getting very tough to find a good servicing dealer for either brand though. Both companies have sold out their dealers by selling products in box stores..

The loggers I've known pick saws that are light, best antivibration, fast, reliability and good service support in their area. My dad ran mac until they weren't available then switched to Stihl, Husky's or Sach. A lot of his saws he had ported and recertified. But his brand choice was the saw manufacture that had the best innovation. Anything that helped get the timber on the ground because he got paid by scale. Any help that conserved energy and time is where he put his money. Pride and brand loyalty shouldn't get in the way of making a living. It's hard to say which brand was more reliable he was hard on his saws. replaced them every two years, the last saw was the backup saw. Mac 125super Pro was the most reliable saw he ran, he ran that saw 4 years then gave it to logger as a landing saw and I think he ran it two more years. My dad told me he thinks 125 super pro helped put Mac out business... dam good saw. But a sharp properly tensioned chain and letting the saw cool down a bit after a long cut will improve reliability.

Litigation is a problem for dealers of just about everything. None of the dealers in the area of my shop are specialists in saws, just no bread and butter there. Everything is geared to the home owner. At home it is a little different, farm country out in the sticks, even then it is about the same.
