3/8, full comp, chisel chain.

I don’t have a rim here but it seems that it might clear a rim but not a spur on the back side as the tooth comes away.
Or is this the strangest QC failure at mfr?
 
The hook in the chain is to scoop oil in the upper bar and lube the links of the chain. This design would scoop 50% less oil.
 
They designed it like that and it is just fine. It didn't last long and I rarely see them come in for sharpening anymore. 72LG style
Stable link is what they called it
 
It supposedly reduced vibration, keep the chain tracking better. It mostly packed crud into the bar rails and sprocket tip. It did not feel as though it reduced vibrations, although the vibrations it would reduce would largely be covered up by other vibrations.

Use it up.
