I am just curious, because if I had any kid in my shop with 1/4th the bad attitude that you have thrown up here, I would have showed you the door.

We could toss around stories, but your post kinda was on the excessive side. We all would hope that you are a bit more cordial, hell even
John Wayne couldn't have made yopur first post fly.....

I suspect it is just from the internet insulation from reality.

I have had crusty old aceholes act the way you described, I showed them the door, and one of us was the happier. Life is way too short
to put up with aceholes, which is why I don't. Which is also why I am broke and unemployed, I never could work for one......

Your approach on bringing in an old burned up saw might be a start. Yes, you could do a lot of things cheaper etc. But most shops avoid
working an old outdated saws, for a multitude of reasons....

Mainly, because that there is no money in it, from a business point of view.

Now you can make a bunch of posts telling us how profitible it is........

I have about 6 shops within 45 minute drive of me

The two that are in the town I live in I wouldn't give dime to

And then there are two that are 40 minutes away I do all my business with I just call either one to make sure they have the part I need if they don't have it; it will be there the next day if it's ordered before noon time and be there by noon time the next day

The other two are hardware stores that sell chain saws :msp_scared:

i don't want to argue man. just stated my opinion. i didn't say there are no good dealers. just that i am not easily impressed by them. if you knew anything about the relationship between the dealers i do business with and me you wouldn't be talking. when i see something going on i call them on it. i refer to them right to there face as the stealers and the reason i started calling them that is cause they call themselves that to me and we laugh about it. no matter what anybody thinks the dealer always wins. i do admit my post was going a bit far. i'm done with this now sorry for saying anything. if you want me to lie to you next time i will. all dealers are awesome and will never rip you off.

I got a bad attitude real fast at the local Chevy dealer when I knew they were trying to rip me off for $500 , I'm banned fron that dealer now after I asked the owner how it felt to be a crook.. If the dealer was HONEST there would not be a problem. Steve

I have worked for all types. Your first posts stated your position plain..

Your first words with the dealer involve calling him "stealer"????????

Be honest now, might let you know why you have communication problems........

Because you had a bad experience at a dealer now every single Stihl dealer on the face of the earth is a lying stealing crook. :bang:

Well duh, they all don't know nothing, they have the balls to charge list price
they don't have the parts for my 1971 saw in stock. Steal sucks and they're dealers are all rotten.

According to your profile, you're 23 years old. You seem to have had quite a few "relationships" with dealers for not being any older than you are.
Do you work on saws as your primary source of income? Log, maybe?

i am not easily impressed when it comes to stealers. it is rediculous how all the ones i know tell their costomers that their saw is junk then they show up at my place and most of the time it is something thats so stupid it only takes minutes to fix. the thought of a stealer telling somebody their saw is junk when it really isn't will forever be burnt into my mind. husky, stihl or whatever brand they are all crooks in some way or another. i have a buddy who got his 268 worked on by a stealer just one town over from me when he had issues out in the woods and this stealer was the closest one. he told me exactly this " it still runs but it sounds like it has a plugged nose". hearing this i knew right away that it was the spark arrestor screen. he expected them to be able to fix it right away but he ended up coming home and a week later they called and told him the main bearings were shot and that he could give up the saw to avoid any costs for the checkup or pay $40 to get it back. i told him go get it back and we'll put these guys to the test. i know for a fact the saw was fixable because i sold the saw to him just after i rebuilt it completely. he went and picked up the saw for $40. it was completely in pieces in a box. i thought this is absolutely rediculous. they had everything except the cylinder removed from the case. even the magneto, coil and flywheel had been removed. i checked for crank play and the thing was solid. so i knew this saw had the spark arrestor inside the muffler and i was planning to remove it originally but had some troubles splitting the 2 halfs of the muffler so i just left it. i managed to get the muffler split and sure enough that spark arrestor which is huge. the whole area inside the muffler. was plugged solid. you would think that an area that big would never plug but it did. removed the spark arrestor screen completely, installed muffler, and whammo she fired right up. for ####s and giggles we brought that saw back to the stealer a week later to show them and tell them it runs fine. they just said we have a mechanic in training. i said " you guys are such @#$%^&* idiots. why wouldn't you get a qualified mechanic to check it over". he turned beat red and me being a smart !@# said thats what i thought and walked out the door. that saw still runs good today and that was 4 years ago. for some reason that stealer always seems to have a tons of used parts in stock so i think this is where they get them. i do not trust any stealers who deal with any brand. i do all my own work unless there is warranty on the saw. it seems like every stealer i know of is out the screw the consumer. sorry for the long rant. i'm just really PO'd about it. i'm sure there are good stealers out there but i have yet to find one.

Is there anything in this post that, after thinking about it, you might want to say differently?

Funny story, dropped my 1972 ford truck off at ford dealer. Just needs new motor, trans, axles, and body work. Was gonna be $182,000. They suggested i look at new truck. Crooks anyway!

i did not say there are no good dealers out there. i just said the ones near me are crooks. the 2 best are walkers saw shop and ajacs power equipment. just so you know too. all the dealers are happy to see me walk through the door. even that one i went in and said those things. i know all the owners because my family used to own rpm which is one of the more poor dealers these days. i get a discount at every shop i go to. at rpm i get cost and most others 20%. alot of them know me as the guy who is gonna fix the things they say are junk. trust me i am nice to them everytime i walk through that door. alot of them i usually go in there and have a coffe and a smoke with them. i will be at the particular dealer i went to about that 268 today to see my buddy bill there. i'm hoping he can hook me up with some 288 parts. they respect me cause they know i'm not gonna take any @#$% from them. sorry if i annoyed you guys. i just expect them all to hold a standard of service and they respect that of me. to tell you the truth i think they have gotten a bit better over the years.

Is there anything in this post that, after thinking about it, you might want to say differently?

I just wish he would quit butchering the English language and learn some punctuation. :sucks:

Sorry I don't have your parts in stock. But for 6 easy payments of $19.95 plus shipping and handling I can get them for ya. And if you act now.....

No, for the most part the folks here are pretty dang honest, hell many of these guys have been helped/fixed for free!!! Many here work for
"Stealers" too!!!!! I have done a few things here too and lost money, so why don't you tone down your "stealer" ****, and things will flow a bit
better......
