Since I've only recently started using biners instead of locking snaps, I'm wondering which brands and styles you guys prefer and why. I'm asking primarily about life support biners, although I'm interested in rigging biners also. I have 4 Petzl ball-lock Modified D and one Petzl Williams ball lock for lifelines, split tail and lanyards.

Petzl, ISC, Kong

Petzl for climbing. ISC for rigging. Kong for holding gears on my saddle. I use the Petzl Spirit bent gate for my chainsaw.

165, I prefer yours. Wanna swap?;) Seriously, I have a hodge podge of biners but don't have what I need/want for personal support. 1of the things I'm about to order from Sherrill. I have been using a Kong screw locking sleel oval for my tress cord (before people start sceaming that it isn't Z compliant-I know). It works well. I think that the reason screw locks aren't approved is NOT because they are prone to coming un locked but because they don't lock automatically (and people do get careless -don't we). I use the screwlock in conjunction with a double locking snap and don't need to clip/unclip the screwlock in the tree but I want to get up to date. For rigging I have various screwlocks autolocks and non lockers.

Petzl william ball locks & Alum rope snaps for split tails & other life support/climbing. Then also a hodge podge of twist gates/screw gates & non locking ovals for re-directs and rigging apps.
