I've got an older 024 with a HU54B that I got as a box of parts; I took the carb apart and it's pretty gummed up.
Is it worth try to clean and rebuild this carb or should I just swap in a new OE WT-194?
I'm seeing OEM Tillotson RK-14HU kits for ~$20 or so, and new OE WT-194's for $80 or so. I don't want to dump a bunch of $ into a saw that's not in great overall shape otherwise, so would rather rebuild the HU54 if there's a decent chance of it running well.
I've had mixed luck with rebuild carbs in the past; I don't have an ultrasonic cleaner, but I usually strip them down, soak in carb clean or brake cleaner overnight, and clean as best I can.
THanks!
