Cool site I stumbled across while looking for the actual recorded low (-40 in 1982) temp for Fergus Falls, MN. I didn't find it here but on the counties web page which verifies that my home thermometer is not a "certified" thermometer. It was still cold none the less. Years ago i thought it would be cool if someone had this all easily available to the public in a usable format. I gave up looking probably 5-6 years ago.

Just type in your city and any date to begin looking.

What is the coldest you have seen. It's currently -6 F here w/o the windchill. Coldest I can recall was Valentines day 2016 when it hit -18F and around -40 with the windchill. I'm sure compared to many those are average winter days. Still damn cold though.

-26*F at 6:00 AM today.Lowest I've ever seen with my own two eyes was -42*F. Hasn't gotten above 0* for the last 3 days and no more than + 5 for the last week.Possibly +21* tomorrow.

Cold enough! Usually only see a wisp of smoke. Just tossed a couple stubby knots in the stove. My favorite cold weather wood to burn!

coldest temp I've ever witnessed was -41 here in Fergus Falls. that was during the same cold snap that SVK is reffering to in the 90's. I remember the big news on that one. so cold they actually shut down the schools for a day. our furnace never quit running and never caught up and I believe it was 3 days before the water pipes thawed out
I think that the winter of 95-96 was the first time we ever got out of school for a "cold" day.

Love your home, my grandma grew up in a house very similar.
Shoulda been here this fall when I shingled that steep ole bugger. Just have that cellar entry and porch left. But the snowballs bit me in the hind end!

Pretty sure we had that briefly this morning. Neighbors been fighting with pipes freezing in his place and his moms place.

Not my idea of a good time but did lend a hand the other day.

The coldest I have ever seen was when I was working in Wyoming, -51 before windchill. The official was about 10 degrees warmer but that was in town.

i think I made it into the 100 degree club!

Pretty much the same here, 21 below right now, I think it hit 22 below last night. Single digits down to 10 below I'm alright outside, get into the 20 and 30 below's and I have to start dressing up outside.

They are watching and listening to you...

I was riding in my buddy's truck and telling him about buying refurbed power tools . He opened his phone when he got home and it was full of ads with refurbed power tools.

This here is no ****.

Outside temp is a whole 9 degrees F here in North Alabama this morning.
That is COLD for those of us this far South. We are not used to it at all.
Inside it was 72 degrees F. Lopi Freedom stuffed with Oak and Hickory.

I usually don't pay much attention to temperatures but I remember a few years back (2013 or 2014) I went to dinner to my lawyer's (I have been knowing him and his wife since what Americans call junior high school) and given some circumstances I do not remember anymore I went there on my old BMW boxer.
I left their home in subzero temperatures but it was like -0.5°C or so. Very clear and dry night so no chance of ice. At one point I hit a very dense fog bank and as I emerged the temperature dropped pretty much instantly to -7.5°C. meaning the fog iced almost instantly on my visor because, like the good idiot that I am, I had not raised the windscreen because I had not factored in the windchill.
I spent several minutes at the side of the road wiping the visor perfectly dry to avoid a repetition of this scene.

Before you ask, yes at that temperature to call tyre grip "marginal" is a mild statement. Luckily modern tyres are not those from my youth which tried to murder you when air temperature dropped under 10°C or the road was mildly damp.
Old times are not always good.
