E3 sparkplug breaks another saw

Not the first i have seen and probly not the last..
how can they keep selling these things ?????
ground broke off and hammered around inside until if found a place to stop the piston from going all the way up.

They are absolute junk.

I bought a riding mower for $75 last year with engine trouble, got it home, and the ceramic was loose, put in a champion. Been mowing with it since.
 
I have seen that too in my shop, makes a big mess when the piece of metal makes its way to the edge of the piston and catches the transfer port. We saw a few blown bigger engines too back in the early 2000's, chinese knockoff AC plugs that came out of Canada and made it into the regular distribution for AC. The ground would break off anf get jammed into the side of the piston on a 6 liter v8 and you'd be left with a good 7 cylinder engine.
 
Wow - just last week I looked at those things and decided to pass on them. I was worried that the end would fatigue fail under vibration and break off. It just didn't look well supported. I bought another made in USA Champion.
 
i did a customers weedeater the other day and could not get it to run right,, i checked everything,, so i figured what the heck,, might as well check the compression,, i didn't look at the plug real close,, i just set it on the bench,, comp was real good,, so i checked the plug,, it was an e3 plug,, i put a champion in and it run like a dream,,, i tell everyone don't waste your money on them
 
Wow, never knew there was a problem with them. We run them if most of our saws, but we buy whatever is available at the time. However, we change our plugs out every 6 months. Found it pretty much eliminates any plug issues and in the greater scheme of things, it is a minor cost to eliminate some issues while working.
 
It is extremely rare to have "plug issues" when you stick to one of the major brands.

Bosch plugs had some bad ones about a decade ago, but I always stick with champion when I replace them
 
Who makes those E3 plugs and where can I get a bunch, would be easy to blame the plug instead of my crappy re-building abilities???

Man, that is some bullschmit right there, I would be pizzzed if that destoyed one of my saws. Kind of like when you finish the re-build and look down on the bench and see one of those 50cent circlips that holds the piston rod, and think, was that there or did I forget it????

Tear it back down and yup, it is there, that is one from another saw.

Got a nice 031 with maybe circlips and an e3 plug, was eating grape nuts while assembling so may have some in the crank, oh yeah, runs better up-side down, prolly the seal sealer leaked again. 300 bucks. :laugh::laugh::laugh:
 
If you search for e3 spark plug problems, you will get tons of pages of issues. I try to use NGK in everything that I can. They are great plugs.
 
Whats funny about those 3 ground plugs is that the electrode can only ground to one.

Sorry to hear about that Ron. What saw was it in? I run mostly CJ6-8s in the saws and thats usually what they came with. Denso or NGK in the truck, actually Toyota sent a lot of V-6 Tacomas out with 3 denso in one bank and 3 NGK in the other! I saw it first hand.

NGK,s,,bpmr7a's in everything now..
was a husky 350,,got it going by yankme engineering and hope it last the total cost of a plug..and a couple or more hours labor :)

EVERYBODY should be aware that these plugs are JUNK !!!!
