I wanted to share and awesome experience with my fellow chainsaw nuts. My girlfriend and I took a weekend road trip to the Ark Encounter in Williamstown Kentucky and it absolutely blew my mind. For those who never heard of it, it's sort of a theme park and they built a biblical scale Noah's Ark! It's said to be the largest free-standing timberframe structure in the world! The craftsmanship of this building was absolutely amazing. I highly recommend going to visit if you have a chance..

How much are tickets?
$40 for adults and $10 parking. I don't remember what the price is for kids but I can get you more info if needed. They also have different packages that will save you some money. There's also a restaurant on premisis and it's only $12 for the buffet. We got a hotel room in Cincinnati for $100 a night. You can go to their website for more information if needed. Just do a search for Ark Encounter. It was definitely worth every penny.

I've never been, but now I'll try to get all the kids down there. Looks amazing!
It was an amazing experience. They also have zip lines, camel and donkey rides and a small petting zoo. It was very crowded when we were there but it's so enormous that we never had any problems being jammed up in crowds

It certainly is quite the experience. To be able to grasp the size of it is incredible.
We went there on the way back from Randy's gtg and had a great time even though it was pretty cold.
I would recommend that you make sure to start very early just for the ark, there is a lot to see.

Thanks for sharing your pictures/experience Brian.

I've gotten a lot of great info from these forums so I wanted to share some also. I was just completely blown away by the size but once you get inside, it's even more incredible. The craftsmanship and attention to detail is just incredible,, not to mention, the quality of the displays. I was just in awe. I felt like a child again! The timber work was just amazing.

That's great.
I took many of the exact same pictures you posted :). My favorites are the main poles taken from the bottom level and from the top level looking down through the center. It was a huge undertaking in many different ways to build it.
Next time you could post something like this in the picture thread or in the off topic area as this is the chainsaw area ;).

We took the entire (11 of us) family to see the Ark and the nearby Creation museum just a few weeks ago, and I agree completely. The ark is impressive in size and answers a lot of kids questions about "how they all fit". The quality of construction and presentation is excellent and the trip is very much worthwhile. Thanks for sharing your pics!

great pictures, and it is a wonderful experience. we went last year and made a side trip to the creation museum in petersburg ky. if you have the time both make great day trips they are about an hour apart.

The most impressive and amazing thing about it is that folks who seem intelligent and can think for themselves believe that the story actually (literally) took place.

I can't imagine how people with a logical mind and eyes that see somehow come to the conclusion that God and His creation (including the flood and the ark) as told in the Bible aren't real.

Its an impressive structure, and while noting its wood construction and craftsmanship is great.... lets keep any meaning/purpose/ideology for the construction in the political forum.
