atv or compact tractor type grapple/log trailer

I have a Wallenstein LT60H/LX115 unit that I use behind my 3032e (flat ground), 5045E (rougher ground), and pickup (over the road). There has been so many times where I could have used the winch on the trailer - just get it if you go that route! The walking beam axle is nice. I can fit...

    Fransgard SK1400 vs Frostbite vs Sundown/Igland GR40?

I gave the Igland/Sundown unit. It does have grease fittings at all of the joints.

First Time Clearing - Could use Some Advice / Direction

Yeah, it's been interesting at times. Still have a bunch of the same constraints, but now that the kids are getting older (11, 7, & 5) it is getting easier. If I had what I do now (knowledge and equipment) I probably would have got that done in a few weeks and actually make a little bit of...

Yeah, there are many times that I regret selling the 8N. I hate that feeling.

Yeah... about those approvals. I don't recommend the technique of her responses turning into "I don't know why you even ask me. You are going to do whatever you want anyways!". I have to be very careful and recognize when she really means business or is just getting annoyed.

What Do You Believe Is The Cost For 1 Cord Of Firewood ?

Most of it is in my signature. Looking into getting a Blockbuster 14-12 as well. I only do this part time/nights/weekends so I need equipment to get it done faster. I also get nearly all of my wood from outside properties.

What Do You Believe Is The Cost For 1 Cord Of Firewood ?

Just thought I'd add that's it's probably better to look at what your annual costs to operate are and how many cord you would need to sell in order to break even. For me... My costs (insurance, equipment payments, fuel...) will be about $40,000 for 2016. That's just to operate... forget paying...

For some reason my images aren't displaying from Google Photos on my last 2 posts and I can't edit the posts. Does this image come through?

    firewood tractors

Got a couple cord out over this past weekend from the farm down the road. Got stumps out that were in my way: This hemlock was putting up a bit of a fight going over: Sometimes it's easier to just load them on the forks by hand: Probably needed more ballast for this one. Ended up...

    Wallenstein WP830 Time Lapse

If it didn't pay for itself, then I would still be cutting/loading by hand as well.

    Wallenstein WP830 Time Lapse

That was $20k. LT60H trailer, LX115 loader, power pack, and the promo at the time was a "free" backhoe/dump box kit. That was March of 2015.

    Wallenstein WP830 Time Lapse

Ha... I've hired ($10-$15/hr) a few different guys throughout the past couple years when I thought I could use an extra hand. Just never seems to work out - they cost more than they are worth.

    firewood tractors

Got to play around this past weekend. Got a Sundown GR40 (Igland GR20) forestry grapple. Have it on the 3032e right now, but it will go on the 5045E once I get the hoses installed/worked out.

    firewood tractors

Some of the work I've been doing over the past few weeks. Cleaning up tops from logging that was done in Fall of 2014.

NEW DHT (Dirty Hand Tools) 35 Ton Log Splitter

I was just curious to how this horizontal only splitter was working out. Was it released and I missed it?

First Time Clearing - Could use Some Advice / Direction

I sure do. Will have about 75 cord delivered this year. Goal of 100 cord next year. Doing most of this as a family has made this a wonderful time in my life.
