    How should I fix it?

Thanks for the replies. I will try and find someone with a welder. Or maybe this justifies purchasing a mig welder. I burned some white oak scraps. No railroad ties or hedge. Happy Thanksgiving

I have a crack in the front of my wood stove. It's almost 2" long. Does it need to be welded or can something like hi temp jb weld do it. Also is it safe to use it in this condition? Thanks

    Puff Backs and CO

Hi all, I have a Russo wood stove located in my walk out basement. It seems that as of late I have been getting carbon monoxide alarms going off once or twice a year, this only happens when there are embers left in the stove and the wind outside reverses the draft. Thus causing the CO to...

I mix shredded paper and wood chips into melted wax the I pack it tight into cardboard tubes 1" in dia. Once it's hard I cut into 1/4" disks. 1 tube lasts all year. Or I use newspaper and thinly split wood scraps.

I'm about to throw my kids toy into the fireplace

5 yr old and 2 year old girls. Grandma and pop got them all sorts of loud toys. And the five year olds toys fit perfectly in the two year olds mouth. Lots of "spit that out" at my house

    The cons of wood heat.

The only con here is if I don't light or maintain the fire no one else will. Wifey would much rather push the thermostat button up to 75 than go to the basement and put wood in the stove.

How much ash do you leave in the stove?

Mine has a grate with a pan below it. When I start the stove I push ash through the grate with the newspaper then empty the pan when it gets full about ever two days. But in only burn when I am at home.

    How would you tackle this?

The plan is firewood so I'm not trying to save the length. I just need it on the ground so it's safer to cut. Thanks for the help. I'll use more wedges then I had planned

    How would you tackle this?

I have a large oak lying down the two small trees are not touching it but they gotta go for ease of work and safety. I was thinking of using a come a long to try and pull after I cut a few notches in the section by the trunk and top. What do you think?

    Bug Dope

I have been using a thermacell bug repeller it burns a small butane cartridge which heats up a pad soaked in some kind of repellant. It says it works for a 15' diameter circle around the die I just put it near me and split away. It seems to work so far.
