there should be a slight oblonging in the coil mounting holes to adjust the air gap. Also check to make sure the little brass ground strap that goes from coil mount through the plastic case to the crankcase bolt is not broken. This will cause no spark also.

None of my Homelite's have them, have never seen the need , work safely and you will not have a problem.

We ran them back home in Alaska when the temperature got below-30, I have them for the 346 and 372, the 61 just used duck tape, did the same thing on the air cooled snowmobiles.

The 61’s are good running saws.

The pistons are the same on the xl-12 and the 100-103 saws, the cylinder is different. The super xl is 58 cc compared to the 54cc of the xl-12. Both have the same stroke and can be interchangeable. If you are not in a hurry I might have one I can send you.

I installed the hutzl complete engine in my brothers 372 non xtork and it lasted about a year before the playing on the cylinder came off. The moral of the story is that you get what you pay for. It is an inexpensive way to get a basket case running, but not a long term cure for a hard working saw.

The 61 and 272xp are still made in Brazil today, some of the 65 and 66 models where made in Yogoslavia during the iron curtain years before the Berlin Wall fell.

Your parts are from a cutoff saw version of a Homelite 360. Xl 400 would look just like a xl 12/super xl, but with a bigger bore and decompression valve on cylinder.

The carb kits and intake boots can be bought on eBay, if your not a eBay fan try Leon’s chainsaw, or randy’s Small engine, both places have a lot of the old NOS homelite parts. I got my intake boots from Randy’s when I replaced mine on my 350,360 and 410 Homelite’s.

Yes there is the soft tone muffler that they put on the xl 102,103,etc. saws. I have a service memo that talks about replacing the stack exhaust with the new muffler.

Just ran the serial number it is a 1990 model.
