What to do with many large, low-value downed trees

It's reasonable access, but mountainside (mostly dry, at least). Shouldn't need any real road building, but it will be pretty long skids to any landing. On the plus side, local mills are only about 1/2hr away. We've had people onsite to size it up, and that's where I'm getting my info from...

Does this blower sound off to you?

Thanks Medalist - muffler baffle is solid. When I listen real close it does sound like a spun bearing, and on the flywheel side even. We'll see what's under there when I get a bit of free time.

Thanks Toby, maybe a good project for the winter here then. Appreciate the advice.

You're totally right, of course. I'm just hoping someone here will have another idea that hasn't come up yet.

What to do with many large, low-value downed trees

Thanks for the replies gentlemen - Unfortunately, yellow pine is worth next to nothing here after it's been processed for firewood. Basically it's the same story with selling to local mills for lumber: Both options are more or less "break even" scenarios, and I've got too many other things to...

Does this blower sound off to you?

I wont bother pulling the flywheel unless I know I can fix it. If it is a loose crank bearing and leaking seal, what's involved in fixing it? I don't understand what you mean by shaking the muffler, if you don't mind giving more detail.

Does this blower sound off to you?

Thanks Toby. Unfortunately for me, that sounds consistent with what I'm experiencing. Complicated fix?

Does this blower sound off to you?

Finally had some time to pull this thing apart. Looks a little juicy in there, something's not right. The gummy deposits are all over the rear, bottom, and lower front sides of the muffler too. Maybe just from running too rich, but I don't see why it should be wet this far back. And I'm not...

What to do with many large, low-value downed trees

Hi - I'm not familiar with this side of the forum, so feel free to point me in the right direction if this would be better posted elsewhere. We've got some land in the SE interior of BC (central Kootenays), and a recent freak windstorm blew down a large number of trees. It's mostly mature...

    Stihl ms151T - Any input?

I've got nothing against Echo: We had an Echo 271T for a long while that was good value. It's not important to all users, but in my opinion the Stihl 150T clearly has superior build quality. Ours get used HARD, and with very few problems. I appreciated the Echo 271T for what it was, but working...

    Stihl ms151T - Any input?

Within its intended range of application, it is an outstanding saw. Ours are our most regularly used saws. But that's a great topic for another thread.
