    synthetic 2 stroke race oil

I used Amsoil in the 90s and siezed motors at 50:1 , Tried it again last year and had bad results. I can't say it was entirely the oil but the saws were not running lean. All saws I own are modded and worked very hard. Never had any problems with Castor 927 or Klotz Benol. I would think the...

    Husky Problem

I've had good luck sanding out some pretty rough cylinders with emery cloth. Do the best you can and put a new ring in it. It won't be like new if it runs but it will be cheap. Run it til it blows and then replace it if you think it is worth it. Another 55 for parts would be a good idea.

    346 Muffler Mod

3120 exhaust outlet installed on a 346 XP muffler. I left the deflectors on this one to see how it worked. I made another one that has no deflectors, it has a nice loud bark to it. I like the 3120 outlet, it works on various mufflers. It is a little restrictive on the 3120 but works great on...

    Stihl 4 mix engine

No. I never bothered to look at it. Winter set in and I have been building a new chipper truck. In the spring I will need the kombi tool again. Then it will be important. I hope I can bring it back from the dead.

    Trip to the stihl store....

All saws that run are good saws. All saws that don't run are junk. The chain, and what it does is what can make a good saw great. I have an old Husky 36 from 1992 that still runs as good as the day I got it. I have a Stihl 084 that I bought in 1986, stihl runs as good as the day I got it. The...

    Stihl 4 mix engine

When I get some time I'll take the little critter apart and see what happened to it. I't ran reasonable for a few weeks. I never bothered to put a tach on it but I have run four stroke engines for many years in motorcycles and I have a pretty good idea what they should sound like at high RPM...

    Stihl 4 mix engine

The combitool has departed this world and will be greatly missed. It was a great and hard working companion for all its few weeks of existance. I think it may have suffered a stroke. :(

    Stihl 4 mix engine

The miffler is good. I havn't taken it apart yet, it looks good from the outside. It doesn't make black smoke like if it were running rich. It seems to break up as though the air/fuel mix is too lean. I will run it today and see what the plug will tell me. Thanks for the reply.

    Stihl 4 mix engine

I played with the carb a little but I didn't want to pull the limiter tabs off yet. It didn't make much if any difference so the tabs may need to go. I didn't know that it should rev 10,500. It doesn't rev anywhere near that. It does act like it needs more fuel. Maybe a bigger carb & fuel it...

    Stihl 4 mix engine

Does any one know anything about the new four mix engines? I picked up a new KM 130 R combi tool with a few attachments a while back. It seems well built and is very handy. The only thing that I don't like about it is that it will not rev. It runs ok, sounds wierd, well I'm used to high...

    Deadliest Job in America

I used to climb towers, If I can find time to dig up some pics I will post them. Most towers that I climbed were over 1,200 feet. Those men up there are tough. Most work was done at night. When you are on the ground it is warm, you dress for -100 degrees. When you get up there after a two to...

141 Husky & The Crap Dumpomatic Choke

You might try setting the carb a little richer. It should idle ok, maybe try the low setting first. Make sure nothing is restricting the fuel flow. Does it run good when it is warmed up ?

141 Husky & The Crap Dumpomatic Choke

I got a new 136 about a month ago. I needed a saw that the girl could start. I had to get rid of that stainless steel muffler and do a port job on it, now it starts just fine. I wonder if nitro-methane will make it have any power. :chainsaw:

    New chipper

Yes, you men are right. I shouldn't rip on Bandit. They are a very good machine and no macine is perfect. I just don't understand why they don't update some of the things that don't work as well as they could. Maybe they have and I havn't seen it. I don't think there is anything big that I...

    New chipper

Bandit has too many design flaws to ever compete with a Woodsman.

Damaged Bar -- Any Repair ?

Never loan out anything you can't afford to give away. :greenchainsaw: If the neighbor is good then don't worry about it, You would most likely not hesitate to buy him lunch or a round of beers that would cost about the same.

    finally splitter pics

Interesting splitter ! Those JD pumps are pretty good, I have one on my small splitter and one on a chipper. The ram setup looks good to spread the load and keep it from binding. I havn't seen one mounted on a drive axle before, maybe I've missed something before but I think that is a good...
