Ok, assembled the saw and gave it a test run. After 4 pulls it started. It idles fine. But almost doesn't response to the throttle, the rpm's go up only a bit. Tried adjusting the carb, no change I'm going to replace the impulse hose and clean the carb again and see if that does the job

I bought a vintage Stihl 024 1988 including HS-246 hedge trimmer attachment. Does somebody has the service manual or part list of the 024? I cannot find the part number of the sprocket, it’s lower than the newer versions of 024 / MS240 and doesn’t have a hole for the pin of the oiler worm gear.

I allready replaced the bearings with new ones (SKF) to be on the safe side, they are not that expensive. The new bearings have also some play, but less then the old ones.

Also grinded down the bearing pockets same amount

Sanded the bottom of the cylinder. Squish is now 0.020” (0.5mm). Rebuild the saw yesterday and let de gasket dry for about a day. Tried the saw today, fired up quickly. Tried a small piece of oak, lots of power (for small saw at least)! Then the saw died, could not get it running...

I will try the sanding option tomorrow and let you know the result.
