    Log ox hauler

I have had a LogOX since last summer. I have found that it works really well as a cant hook. Using it without the cant hook handle is nice around the wood splitter. I did not buy the whole kit with the timber jack because I found it just as easy to cut the log around halfway through on one side...

    Scrounging Firewood (and other stuff)

Scrounged up a truckload from a Facebook marketplace ad for free firewood. There is a lot more there but it is mostly tulip poplar so I dont know how much of it I actually want. Glad things are drying up a bit so I can finally get out and cut a little more.

    I know it's not a chainsaw but

I have an FS 56 and like it. although its a homeowner model, it still has decent power and starts every time. I have only had it for two seasons, so no idea on how long it will last. You might look into the FS70 or FS91 as they are both considered part of Stihl's professional lineup and I don't...

Does Jotul "Clean Burn" really work?

I have a Lopi Liberty, but it has a similar system. Regardless of whether your stove has the airwash or not, if you cut the air down all of the way, your glass will turn black. The newer EPA stoves don't seem to allow you to cut the air all of the way, but you can still cut it enough to cause...

What got you started in heating with wood?

When I was younger, I spent many weekends helping my grandfather cut firewood for his OWB. Around three years ago, my wife and I bought our first house and it had a mixture of electric baseboard and pellet stove heat. We spent one winter using both the electric heaters and the pellet stoves and...

372 xp, 576 auto tune, or ms 461

I picked up a 372xp last year and have really liked it as a complement to my MS261. I don't think you can go wrong with any of the saws you have listed.

    Show your Wood Stove

Here is the Lopi Liberty that has heated our house for the past 3 winters. This thing can really throw some heat when we need it to.

    60cc Vs 70cc

I would go for something in the 70cc range. I started with a Stihl MS261 with an 18" bar also. When I was in the market for a new saw not too long ago, I went with a 70cc and couldnt be more happy with the jump in power for larger trees.

    how many

From somewhere around November to early May, we burn around 6 cords of hardwood. When the temps are below 45 or so, we burn full-time, but the rest of time we use electric heat because our woodstove will cook us out if not.

Echo cs680 vs echo cs620 vs stihl ms362

Well, I ended up straying from stihl and was able to find a husqvarna dealer within 45 minutes from me by a recommendation from a friend. I ended up with a new 372xp and after using it once am pleased with it. Thanks for all recommendations and advice.

Echo cs680 vs echo cs620 vs stihl ms362

Yeah, I've handled them both in store before but didn't look at either of them real closely. The 461 having a little more power might make up for its inferior AV. Hopefully I'll get some time to head to the local shop and play around with both of them and come to a conclusion.

Echo cs680 vs echo cs620 vs stihl ms362

Thanks for the helpful replies. I was a bit worried about the cs680 as I've not heard many rave reviews on it, so I'm glad I checked here before purchasing. I think I may try stretch my budget a bit and try for a new ms441 or ms461. I like the idea of buying new mainly to support my local dealer...

Echo cs680 vs echo cs620 vs stihl ms362

My budget is $800 or below mostly. I really like the ms441 and ms461 but just cant justify spending $1000 or above on a chainsaw at this moment in time.

Echo cs680 vs echo cs620 vs stihl ms362

Hello all, I currently have a Stihl MS261 and am happy with it except for in bigger wood. I am mostly cutting hardwood from 12-26" diameter. Since I cant find a ton of information on echo's saws and their posted HP specs seem low, I figured I could post here and maybe get some help. Which saw...
