Need to be Gettin' more out of my 390xp!

Thanks Bill, That's reassuring to hear mate. Maybe I just need to keep running her. I'm thinking I might chase up a ported muffler for it too - to keep me entertained in the meantime (especially considering we'll be locked down in Vic soon.) There's only so much Northern one can drink to kill...

Thanks mate - if I recall correctly from reading, more pins are only useful up to a certain bar length. Would I be correct in that?

Not at all, nothing completely buried. Just in pine 14". The 390 is in perfect condition, both saws sharp chains etc etc only diff was the 390 pulling a 24" and the 461 pulling at 22" I wasn't doing a full on comparison by any means but I did expect to see a pretty clear difference.

Need to be Gettin' more out of my 390xp!

G'day lads Been running around with a 390 for a while. Great saw for bucking the bigger stuff, happy with it.. Until I inherited a 461 MAG. Now that thing is a great bit of saw. Gutsy as. I've had both the 390 and the 461 working side by side yesterday and the 390 really isn't noticibly head...

Been a while since I've logged in..

Always loved saws, collecting patches & paraphernalia. My first new saw was a little 40cc screamer. Now the pile is slowly growing..

Well, couldn’t pass up this beauty - actually got her brand new at a great price and she absolutely rips. I figure I’ll get it ported from a guy down here for $300 when I start to do some weekend slabbing.

Ha ha ha I’d bet my pay check that the wife will have kicked the hinges off and taken off with both my car & my dog!

Dogs - they never bloody live long enough. I feel for you mate, it’s always hard losing a companion, especially when they’re so loyal. Sounds like it lead a great life and was loved unconditionally. Couldn’t ask for more than that. Cheers

Out of interest, what would be a reasonable price to pay for a rebuilt 394? I’ve found one for $1000 Aud. It looks the goods but unsure about that price!

Lads, I’ve found another 394. I can’t make out the details on the ID tag though, i can never decode them accurately - even with the help from the husky site. If anyone can read it, please yell out. https://imgur.com/gallery/Gnj0GBe

Not discounting the small saws in any way mate! I’ve got a lovely little 45cc that’s been muff modded and updated bar, sprocket and running a full chisel & it’s a real little screamer! Looking for something that I can slab AND cut with has pointed me towards the 90CC guys, as I can have the...

Blackwood slab would be the first go-to, there’s a log here that’s been stored and packed that’s approx 550 in diameter - I’ve got that pegged to be slabbed and used as some decking - it will make a nice feature once cleaned up. I’m not discounting anything (other than a small saw) at the...
