Is the shop lying to me and next steps?

Just got my new Stihl P&C today and I'm stoked. Also just ordered the OEM gasket set today. I'm slowly amassing everything I need to begin reconstruction. To "Wow": I like your post about oil and sharpening. I decided I'm going to run 40:1 with high quality oil from now on after learning...

Is the shop lying to me and next steps?

Thank you for the confidence. I originally got this saw because I wanted something bigger to start ripping lumber. I'm slowly clearing trees to make room for an orchard and I didn't want the best ones going to waste. I got a Haddon Lumbermaker attachment. Tested it on my 250 but quickly...

Is the shop lying to me and next steps?

The emperor's clothes are so beautiful. Please, no dealer bashing here. Tired of proving myself. I used said saw for that tree. Took me about 30 minutes of keeping my finger on the throttle the whole time. That was probably my second mistake. Right after I added the wrong oil/wrong ratio...

    Whatever

Is the shop lying to me and next steps?

Well I never straight gassed it. The 50:1 ratio I used probably just wasn't enough oil after I let it sit to dry out for so long and those cheap Chinese parts just couldn't take it. I'm definitely checking the seals, no doubt. I see this like everything else. Either pay a ransom for the...

    Believe it!

Is the shop lying to me and next steps?

That is my gut feeling. Leaning towards doing the bearings. Don't want to chance fudging up the brand new OEM top end.

Is the shop lying to me and next steps?

Yeah, I saw that gasket set and am buying it. Feels good to know the cylinder I got is the better of the two. If I don't rebuild the bottom end and instead just clean it out will dousing it liberally with carb cleaner be fine? Should I let it soak a bit? And I am still in need of knowing...

Is the shop lying to me and next steps?

I see what you mean. But enough about dealers and oil. I need to get this thing fixed. I did end up buying the OEM P&C for $172.50 + $12.90 shipping. I think I got a pretty fair deal. I should have asked this first but the IPL lists two different part numbers for that kit (1122 020 1209 and...

Is the shop lying to me and next steps?

Thanks to everyone keeping this on track. I'll never use outboard oil again. I should have thought twice. I was stupid. Flatbroke, I just now downloaded the regular owner's manual for the 660 and it says basically the same thing. :dumb2: So I looked into it and if you are telling me I...

Is the shop lying to me and next steps?

Thanks I already said I was having trouble locating the right sprocket online at first and I only brought it up there because I had to bring them my 660 anyways and I had to get those trees cut up ASAP. I figured they could fix everything at once faster than I could.

It's like Whack a Mole here. Since y'all on the offensive I guess I have to bring on the defense. Believe me I would like to. Unfortunately it's too complicated. I also work with a relative of the owner. I always knew to never do business with your relatives. Go ahead and add never do...

Is the shop lying to me and next steps?

Wow! Paranoia will destroy ya. I did have a concern that last post I made would attract some of those type of comments. Let me ask this. Why do you feel threatened? Why do you call it bashing? Is every shop just supposed to be God's gift to humankind that can do no wrong? Maybe you're the...

I definitely second that statement. Thank you again for that gem. And thank you to everyone that helped in this. This trophy is for you. :numberone: Yeah the mechanic I dealt with chastised me for taking the limiter caps off the carb even though they were never there to begin with. He...

Is the shop lying to me and next steps?

Well I actually upgraded to the bigger saw in part because I wanted to start ripping some lumber. Doing that I believe I'll need the best quality because of the longer WOT run times. Sounds good but will I be able to check on those bearings that way?

Is the shop lying to me and next steps?

I already wiggled the big end of the rod and it's pretty stiff although it does slide from side to side on the bearing which I'm guessing is normal. Seems like it'd be a good idea to tear apart the bottom end to clean it real good 'cause I'm concerned with shavings from the P&C in there. When...

Is the shop lying to me and next steps?

Another question just to clarify. When we say lean versus rich we're talking gas right, not oil? I think there has been some mismatch of espressions where I've looked.

Is the shop lying to me and next steps?

Too bad only I and him know for sure it's true. There's no concrete way I can prove all this. Wish I had a camera crew with me each time. Regardless, I don't want anymore drama. Just want to move on. Long ago I came to the realization that in today's day in age you really have to become...

Is the shop lying to me and next steps?

Yes, that is what I meant. I watched a video wherein the guy did both pressure and suction. The shop I dealt with said they don't ever do that until they feel the need. I think I should put it back together and do so.
