Dolmar gone and Makita stopping saw production?

I think your right, best enjoy what we have while we are allowed to run it. At least we can make axes.

Where's WYK been, and what trouble is he making?

Yes, old stone houses were great in that respect, they did not warm up too quick or cool off too quick, mine had over 2 foot thick walls. They also kept noise out much better than modern houses to. I used to work in old buildings, never needed anything other than a t shirt no matter what season...

Dolmar gone and Makita stopping saw production?

They made good saws, they priced them ok too. A lot of people liked them because they could repair them themselves, not like AT or MT in a lot of situations. At least they did not need a computer on their saw to get past the EPA.

Dolmar gone and Makita stopping saw production?

Yes, sad how Makita / Dolmar let a lot of us down. Briggs and Stratton are apparantly gone too, less know, and Tanak who produced very long lasting saws and such are also dumping their loyal customers and stopping the gas equipment. Stihl Husqvaran Echo, and the Chinese are the main players now.

How to sharpen a chain when one or two teeth are really injured?

If they are very bad, cut them off, and cut their counterparts off or the chain will cut to one side. If you can sharpen them, then do so, ring back their counterparts too, bbut definitely do not take back all the other teeth because of them.

    Ms310 running issues. Totally confused!

Great news, I hope your saw serves you well.

    Ms310 running issues. Totally confused!

Just some advise, don't use the piston stop. They do damage the piston, use some starter rope, and use an impact gun to remove nuts or the clutch. Tighten against the pull cord shoved in through the plug hole, being careful the rope does not inter a port and or get sliced off with the piston...

    462 or 400 or ?

I think the MS400 will be the saw we are all talking about in years to come as one of Stihls best. Which one, thats simple, if you need to use a longer bar or are in bigger or harder wood most of the time, take the 462. If your in wood that the MS400 can handle and do not require a bar that...

Help me justify a new saw purchase

You asks an good question, just buy it is my answer. There is so much infighting amongst the nations right now, the availability of chainsaws and other tools we need is being impacted, covid, climate, wars, and talk of wars, get em while you can.

Is Stihl 4Mix to be avoided, looking at strimmers

How long ago was had you the carb issue, getting warranty for me will be an issue, as the Stihl dealer seems to dislike me. Sold me a 372 with a 13" bar, then refused to upgrade to a bar that would not destroy the saw, said that is what comes with them, even though I saw the longer bars on them...

Sounds like a common MS270 issue “found” and quite likely a dumb question to go with it.

You have found the source of your slightly altering tune, with the bolt loose there could indeed be an air leak, that would cause your saw not to return to idle in the correct manner, as you mentioned it not doing so. You could put in a new bolt, torque up all the bots and try the saw, ideally...

    My Dumb Question #1

Way too dangerous, no noise, next thing tree on top of head. Seriously though, electricity is dangerous to mankind, they would need to be well sealed against rain, then how do you keep it cool, its not like a circular saw that works inside in the dry. Battery power to compete with the MS400 is...

    Ms310 running issues. Totally confused!

Yep, something cooked it the first time round. Don't these saws have trans fare covers that fall off, maybe they are loose as in no longer bonded to the cylinder. Try using less pressure and less vacuum during the test and watch if that falls, this test usually shows up leaks that are sealed up...

    Ms310 running issues. Totally confused!

Coil issue maybe. I had a saw with a loose flywheel, that is how it went, would not stay running unless the throttle was held 1/4 open, would rev out, but would not idle, and a torture to start.

Fine example of a Stihl MS-5200

Just found the Carbed version of the MS-500i , in Ireland, probably a pre production / test model up in our redwood forests.

Is Stihl 4Mix to be avoided, looking at strimmers

Yes, I need the speed, so two stroke it will be, the 250 seems a beast.

Did the FS110 have valvles, they are not sold locally.

Is Stihl 4Mix to be avoided, looking at strimmers

Thank you for posting your experiences, I did hear 4mix caused issues, am sure they have them solved by now, but I will give them a miss, simple 2T will do me fine. I will look into the Echo strimers, though they will not be cheap here. Tanaka used to keep the prices down here, they were very...
