How does a coil limit or advance timing?

This branch connects these two trees. Found in a central NC bottom land. I think they are two different species.

    Bear Heart

Just to throw it out there- bear meat is the #1 vector of trichinosis in the US. I hunt large game and do all my own butchering, so don't get me wrong. I'm just making sure everyone understands that undercooked bear meat is almost a sure bet of Trichinosis. Please read the symptoms and be aware...

Any place to get deals on new stihl saws ?

I always thought the dealers business model was to made the profit on accessories and service, not on the actual saw itself.

Looking at either a Stihl 462 or 500i

My MMWS ms462 surprises me Everytime I use it. I always expect it to be heavier and I always expect it to bog in a pinch. It just keeps cutting even when it has every right to bog down. I'm super happy with it. It's a lightweight powerhouse. I never ran it stock so I can't speak to a factory...

How important is finding no ethanol fuel ??

For those of you who can't find E free, go to your local marina or gas station near a big lake. Boaters use it heavily.

    M-Tronic is tracking you!

"do you mind if I have a look in your saw"? "We had an anonymous report of someone using non biodegradable bar oil" (Forestry official in 2025)

    M-Tronic is tracking you!

Total running hrs is factored into your carbon credits. I have devised a way to run my 2 stroke backwards, thus lowering total hours run.

    Firewood and Poison Ivy

Here is what I do. Springtime - Cut the vine base with loppers and use a toothbrush to apply straight Roundup to the wound. Wearing rubber gloves etc. Wash loppers with Dawn dish soap. Late winter, pull vine off and cut tree. The vine is usually dried up and crumbly.

    Walnut and heartwood size

Sweetgum is the stringiest crap firewood on the planet. Around here folks just let it rot.

    Walnut and heartwood size

Gumball aka Sweetgum. Trash wood around here, varies by region. This is a black walnut I harvested this fall. It will be a mantel eventually.

    16"/18" bar on MS362?

You might be bumping on the rev limiter with a short bar. I run my saws wide open, so if your a half throttle operator than it may not be an issue. You could file the rakers .030 +/- to add some extra load or put a load on it with cant/pressure. I'm not schooled on sprocket changes, so that may...

Pioneer vs Viking for firewood buggy

I'm now seeing where Mahindra makes a UTV with hydraulic dump bed. Looks like Cub cadet and New Holland also make one. Lots of choices! The cub cadet is loaded with standard features but I'm scared of anything MTD.

    Thermoelectric Fan: Yay or Nay...

Correct, it needs to pull cool air from the edge of the stove. Plus sitting it in the middle can damage it.

    Thermoelectric Fan: Yay or Nay...

I like mine. My Fisher baby bear in my 16x20 woods camp is the perfect place for it. $30 off amazon. It came with a cheap magnet thermometer also. Bad pic but you get the idea. It also serves a great use as a visual on the temp of your stove. Slow fan, might need air or wood.
