BC1500 - Auto Feed - Bogging self down

Well, new update! I had an oil leak on the oil filter housing so I took it to John Deere to have them fix it. I thought it was the gasket for the housing but it actually ended up being a crack in the oil filter housing. They ended up having to replace the housing, oil, and coolant. While they...

Final update on what started as an auto feed issue that lead to much more! Lol I picked the machine up on Monday, cyber Monday for reference. When I got there they had everything taken care of but they did find a couple issues with the safety bar on the tray table that they fixed as well. When...

Thanks for your feedback. I did notice that there are not many salvage locations with these parts.

Hey Guys! I was curious if anyone knows where one can get used parts for a 2008, BC1500. I am looking for a replacement engine hood. I would also like to know in general just in case I am looking for something else down the road. Thank You

Update: Once Vermeer removed the drum they were inspecting the chamber and noticed the 2 rear motor mounts were broken. One of them the weld was cracked and the other had 2 bolts broken off and the one bolt holding it on. ‍♂️ I also decided to go ahead and have them flush the hydraulic oil...

This has also been a great learning experience. After spending 5 hours yesterday with the experienced techs at Vermeer diagnosing the issue I have learned a tremendous amount. It was like a crash course in chippers -101!

Absolutely! You can definitely tell that this machine had been put through the paces. I was told when I purchased it that there was around 1800 hours but for whatever reason the electrical display is not working, specifically for hours. It works for oil pressure, battery voltage, and coolant...

BC1500 - Auto Feed - Bogging self down

Well, I took my machine in today to the closest Vermeer dealer, in Goodfield Illinois, and the belt needed tightened. It was extremely loose, which I was able to determine after feeling the appropriate tension applied by the tech. I didn’t get a chance to try it out because one thing lead to...

I didn’t notice anything with the reverse on feed rollers. They seem to work just as good in reverse as they do in the forward position. That is good to know though.

When you say pull into idle position that the spring is compressed into disengagement? In this setup the spring pulls (compresses) into engagement So, it is “keeping” the clutch engaged.

Right. I definitely know there is something going on. It doesn’t sound anything like what I was used to hearing with the one I rented earlier. Thank you

BC1500 - Auto Feed - Bogging self down

Upon inspection this morning I noticed something. It looks like there is a spring that appears to hold the clutch in when engaged. When I looked it was disconnected and I noticed when I engaged the clutch there was slop in it because the spring wasn’t holding it in place. I also noticed that the...

BC1500 - Auto Feed - Bogging self down

@capetrees & Mrhemihead, Guys, thank you for the video and feedback. Before I bought it the gentleman I bought from put new blades and belt on it and really went over and took care of a lot of the inevitable, needed, maintenance. I know they didn’t run it in the field though so they did not...
