Which to buy...Dolmar 120 Super -or- Homelite 450 -or- Homelite 923?

I also vote for the Dolmar. The 120 super is a very good dependable saw, I own two. They are comfortable to run and very smooth runners. 210 is a good price too. I would not part with one of mine for less than $300.00 I have always considered homelite a homeowners saw... Dolmar is...

Remote D Log Cabin Milling help please.

I haven't ever worked with lodge pole. If you can get one log out and take it to the mill have them cut three faces on it and then see how it reacts after sitting for a few weeks or months. If may not have much movement or it may have a lot. It looks like a nice site. I think if I didn't...

Remote D Log Cabin Milling help please.

I build cabins like you describe. I don't think you will beable to do it with a CSM; they are too slow. The logs have to be assembled green as soon as they are milled. If you mill and try to airdry they will warp and twist and be useless. The only way to not assemble green is to kiln dry and...

    Lumber grade stamp.

Deeker... Somebody on sawbucks had some lumber stamped for a cabin not too long ago....Unfortunately we lost the thread do to a server crash, but if you ask Treebones he may know who it was. Often it is specific to locality. Around here if it is on 10 or more acres zoned AG. it does not have...

Just got a Jonsered 2094 Project Saw

They were thinking "lets put an airplane engine in a car; yeah that would be fun". When you build something out of parts for something else you put the parts in anyway they fit and work:D.... The newer ones engines are in forward and the ignition switch is on the steering column instead of the...

    Makita/Dolmar

. I changed my mind... I would take the 660/066 and sell it to one of you stihl lovers and buy two 7900s :p

    Makita/Dolmar

Reliability is subjective. Hop on ebay and search parts chainsaws....then start counting the brands that are broken and being sold for parts..... Sure we can't count Dolmar because they haven't sold enough here to have many be on ebay, but Husky/Jonsered and stihl all have. If you combine the...

    Makita/Dolmar

It has been a slow progression, it includes flip top oil caps, safety anti kickback chain on their low end saws, auto chain tensioners, and plastic crank cases. If you have a stihl dealer near you go and compare their parts prices next to Dolmar or even Husqvarna/Jonsered. The best test...

    Makita/Dolmar

I was thinking 44 and typed 66....If I could win a choice of a free 066 or the 7900 I would take the dolmar without hesitation. Dolmar was the first company to produce a gas chainsaw and has kept the price down and quality up for 80 years. Stihl on the otherhand built a reputation, upped...

    Makita/Dolmar

Dcs I picked up a rental unit today for $100.00 They are comparable to the ms660 which you will never touch for a price like that. I have run a lot of stihls and Jonsereds and I think Dolmar is a far better saw. They are balanced well, have lots of power, dependable and the 6400 7300 and 7900...

    Log value help needed

I don't think they are share sawing. If I read the post right they are paying the sawyer for sawing and the sawyer is buying some logs from them. I buy logs and pay fair market value for them based on what the state publishes as market value. One thing you have to consider is that loggers...

? prices on used band mills

I payed 12 K for mine used with only 12 hours on it......The lady I bought it off of gave me an invoice from where they bought it new and payed over 19 k with shipping. If it has been used for almost 500 hrs I would say it is going to be pretty beat up. Get a compression test on the engine as...

    Double powerhead CSMs

I already own a bandmill. I want a CSM to slab out logs that are too large for the bandmill. The mill can handle 36 inches so I want something that will mill up over 5 ft across. Does look like the single head would be the way to go, I don't have patiance for fine tuning anything:D

    Double powerhead CSMs

I wouldn't think a four stroke would have enough torque and speed to run a chainsaw mill. The higher horse power engines are so heavy I wonder if you need two people on the engine end of the mill?

    Double powerhead CSMs

I have a block that is oil infused, I plan on using it to replace the roller guides on my band mill.....one of these days

    Stump Grinding prices??

Around here I have been quoted 3.00 and inch. I have four stumps in my yard to be ground one is 50", one 32" and the other two are old bedford pear stumps in the 8" range. I had a guy come out and quote me $120.00 to do all four so I don't know how they calculate an inch, but its alot cheaper...

    Double powerhead CSMs

Huh....didn't know they came like that.....lots of money for a bar though.....guess I will have to tuck some money aside for a while. Might as well go all out and get the 72". Think two 79 cc powerheads will run it?

    Double powerhead CSMs

Anybody on here have one that has two powerheads on it? I want to build one so I am looking for some pictures of how the second powerhead is attached:greenchainsaw:

    Wood-Mizer sawmilling business

I can't do 1000 bf a day. My mill is also all hydraulic, but I have no monthly payments, no labor costs. I do work for my money, but its at my pace.:)
