    Homey 925 oiler

Helping a friend get his Homey up and running again. Is the oiler adjustable? It's blowing oil everywhere, the chains literally has a solid mist coming off of it all the way around and we now have oil almost dripping off the bench from a 2 minute run.

How unsafe is non safety chain?

My observations about how I cut is that I feel I'm much safer without the safety chain simply because with them it seems to take longer to cut so I tend to look around and not really pay attention to what I'm doing. Whereas using a non-safety chain I pay attention 100% of the time since I feel...

    quick Stihl model question

Checked out the 2171 and yes, it appears to be almost the same as the Husky. I'm just not really that fond of the vibration dampening that Husky uses, comparing it to the Stihl the Husky bounces, shakes and shimmies all over which I really don't like that much. What are the older say pre-1980...

    quick Stihl model question

So can anyone answer my Jonsered questions? I am nowhere near a dedicated Stihl or Husky or Homelite guy. I will run whatever saw is reliable, easy to repair and most important of all comfortable to use. I have heard alot of good things about Jonsered on here but not so much as to the repair...

    quick Stihl model question

When I switched to the skip on the XL it had a noticable improvement in cleaning out the chips, did the same for the 455. The wood is so soft and wet the chips were literally sticking to the chain and coming out the top of the cover whereas with the skip they are a nice heavy flow right out the...

    quick Stihl model question

How do you like your 045? Any bad design flaws? Any major issues you've seen?

    quick Stihl model question

It would be fitted with a 20" bar and skip tooth chain, looked at the 056 and I already have the 051 @ 89cc's and really don't have a use for anything bigger, the 051 is almost overkill for what I need but do usually end up with atleast 2 or 3 24-30" Pines which it handles with ease. I'm...

    quick Stihl model question

Thanks Guys. Went to the site Rookie1 posted then started checking out the suggestions. I did see 1 that looks pretty good, what about the 045? It has the cc's I want and the case design I want. Reliabilty? good, bad, ugly? I actually "demo'd" a brand new 440, 660 and 880 and hated all 3...

    quick Stihl model question

I got the OK to get a 70cc class saw and am looking at the 044 but all I'm finding have a plastic case, they look like a very large version of my 025. I want one to match my 051, all metal, built like a tank. Can someone enlighten me as to what model would be correct if not the 044? And...

Air Filter on a Stihl 029

Just be real careful taking it off, I broke the clips off on mine being a little overzelous. Stihl dealer got me for $14.95 for a new one. I really don't like the clip design, real PITA to pull off. Been playing with an extra mount to see if I can get a K&N on it.

    Husqvarna 36 Chain Saw Problem

I just dealt with my neighbors ??372?? can't remember the exact model. It would idle all day long but as soon as you hit the throttle it would die, you could feather it and get a rev but it would die in about 4-5 seconds. Put a carb kit into it and cleaned the residue out of the carb body and...

    Homelite XL-12

I still run mine at 32:1 with synthetic oil, they claim you can go to 50:1 or higher but I'm not going to guinea pig the Homey, I dump whatever I have into the other tho.

    Homelite XL-12

I LOVE mine. It's slowly taking the place of the 455 and 025. I can see a day when I just replace them with more of the '60's gen Homey's. Wouldn't trade mine for a brand new Stihl or Husky. Go onto Fleabay and search Homelite XL-12 you'll get probably about 1500+ hits, parts are everywhere...

    051 question

Thanks, Lakeside hopefully the can find the right part. The usual guy said there was no such saw :monkey: . The part time guy knows what he's doing, hopefully I'll get lucky and he'll be there. Since they will have to be ordered I'll just have them get the whole set.

dgfitz, what are you cutting? Hardwood or soft?

    051 question

If you knew the 051 justsaws you would know there are no safety feaures. It is pre safety features. No chain brake from the factory and the throttle lock out is basically worn out and inop both of which I'm perfectly fine with. If you can't answer my question, let the other who can do so...

    051 question

Cleaning everything up and draining for storage and noticed the lower 4 bushings are toast, completely seperated and in pieces. I hate the "isolation" feeling they give from the saw so would I be risking damaged the case if I turned out all 6 bushings in aluminum and dumped the rubber? Don't...

    Woodland Pro. Who makes it?

Read my original post, yesterday 8:45PM And I still said that, Oregon chain took less passes to resharpen which means it is softer metal (and you can see the cutters get smaller). The Stihl chain took more passes to sharpen because it is a harder steel (and the cutters don't get visibly...

    Woodland Pro. Who makes it?

Thanks, Pallis. I dont' have racks, would be nice but a real PITA to remove for the pop up. I'm stacked and strapped with those 2" 10K rated ones attached to the frame and wrapped over the 1/4's for each row. Rather crude but it works. When I started with the Stihl chains I inititally did a...

    Woodland Pro. Who makes it?

I said the 8 & 20 passes were pulling #'s out of the air. I don't know how may passes it takes, I've never paid attention. I'll do 1 or two then check it, 1 or then check it until it's sharp. I know it took alot more passes after I cut that big Elm than after cutting my usual Pine.
