    MEWP cost of ownership?

For those who own a MEWP (tracked or wheel), what is the typical cost of ownership (maintenance, inspection etc) for 3-5 years of ownership? If you have the general numbers, please specify whether you purchased used or new. We've been renting an SD64 and I wanted to look at all the pros/cons of...

how to protect myself (getting paid) from a large tree clearing job?

You may look into invoice factoring to cover your expenses while waiting to get paid. It’s a slippery slope so watch the fees closely. It can help carry the cost of labor while you wait to get paid. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro

Pin Oak, point me in the right direction?

Thanks Joe, I neglected to mention that she had another Oak with significant thinning. I wanted to get a full picture of what is going on with all of her trees before I gave any recommendation.

Pin Oak, point me in the right direction?

I looked at this tree a month ago and was puzzled then. Forgot about it and misplaced my notes. Going to schedule another site visit this week but these are the pictures I took on Aug 13th. I have looked through all of my usual resources, and a few new ones and cannot find a good match. Any...

    What programs are you using?

Jobber for customer relations, proposals, work orders, scheduling, invoicing, online payments and time clock for employees. Quickbooks online for book keeping and payroll. I can send a link to anyone wanting to switch to Jobber, I think it saves you $150 (and me too). Customers have an online...

Monitoring defect size from the ground

Has anybody ever used a milradian reticle to measure and monitor the size of defects that usually would take an aerial inspection? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro

    What was your worst injury?

It was threads like this that kept me from being seriously injured 3 years ago. Read that as "career ending injury". No one is forcing you to read it. If it doesn't benefit you or you don't understand it, you are free to move on. Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk

    Leasing big equipment, bucket truck.

Thanks for your input. I was able to get to talk to someone at Altec Capital that was very informative. She took the time to explain all three of their lease options. None of them sounded like they were the best option for my company at this time. Going into this, the only thing I had...

    Leasing big equipment, bucket truck.

Anyone have opinions/facts on whether leasing a bucket truck is a good idea for a company that is four years old? The next logical step, equipment-wise, would be acquisition of a bucket truck..... Reliable bucket truck. Sent from my GT-P5113 using Tapatalk 2

    Learning to splice

This thread has the fid you will need to make to make the 16 strand splice. You will need to download fid length info from samson's website and all the instructions. I think Yale has some info too, or it may be the other way around (yale/samson). I may be making a trip to your vermeer dealer...

    Learning to splice

16 STRAND is by FAR the hardest. My first successful 16 strand splice took 8 hours and about 30' of rope. Sent from my GT-P5113 using Tapatalk 2

    Fiber optic line clearance-storm damage

I did not think about the damage insurance or waiver. I specifically asked my carrier contact if there was anything special I had to be concerned with for fiber optic line and described what I planned to do to make sure I wasn't going to make things worse. The subs told me it was $88 a splice...

    Fiber optic line clearance-storm damage

I got a call from a cable/internet carrier here in central Ohio today to see if I could go help out clearing a couple of 24"+ Oak trees off there lines so their subs could rehang them. Lines were not broken, they just needed to get them out from under the trees. I was available and went to...

    Leaf curl on oak?

I thought the leaves would be discolored more before they would be distorted with anthracnose. I was also under the impression it would need to be a wetter, more humid climate for it to thrive. The last few months have been pretty dry. A few humid weeks though.
