    Fuel mix 20:1 or 50:1

The OP has a 4 cycle that uses a 50:1 fuel mix. Not a true 2 cycle.

    Fuel mix 20:1 or 50:1

Well. I’ll have to disagree with your dealer. Mainly because, I’ve been working at a large Stihl dealer for 45 plus years. Full and semi synthetic oils mixed at the recommended ratio have solved the majority of valve life problems. I don’t mean to sound smug, but working mainly on the saws and...

    Fuel mix 20:1 or 50:1

OK. Perhaps I should have said “Deposits”. As I said, it’s not a problem with hand held tools so much. Bac Pac, as you said with their steady throttle operation is where it shows. There’s no debate, after a valve upgrade from Germany, the semi and full syn’s help. A 4 mix is a good engine.

STIHL MS 500i Oil Mix Ratio

    Good question.

    Fuel mix 20:1 or 50:1

They do have a few guys that hate them. For sure. But the majority of the kinks are out, and tbh, the HT131 is a nice tool. We sell tons. But, completely different market than you.

    Fuel mix 20:1 or 50:1

Don’t lose sight that this isn’t a 2cycle. It has valves. They are subject to carbon build up. When they first came out, they used the orange bottle. The semi ( low smoke now nla) and silver bottles came out AFTER the 4 mix intro. Stihl paid for a ton of valve cleanings that did no good. Then...

    Fuel mix 20:1 or 50:1

Thing is, there was never a problem with lubrication on the 4mix. It was a carbon problem. A 4 mix’s have the potential for carbon buildup around and on valves. Yes follow the manual

    Fuel mix 20:1 or 50:1

To the OP. You know how it runs and the power band. As for the oil, you want to run a semi or full synthetic oil @ 50 : 1 Its not so much a problem with the hand helds ( like yours) but on a BR series bac pac, the carbon will build up and cause a valve leak. The hand held items are used at...

    Crankshaft Runout Test

I don't know if I've ever seen a spec. But, you think, maybe that could be just irregularity's from the brg or washer? I'm curious to know why you checked it to begin with. Clutch noise?

    Didnt see your edit.

    New (to me) MS250

Take the bar off. You'll see a cover above the sprocket. Two screws (Under the sawdust lol). Take the screws out. There's a couple of e-clips that come off. Its pretty straight forward. Take a pic first. The cam assy can be confusing and can be put in wrong. Make sure the flat spring is OK...

    Checking crank seals with Freon.

This is considered an outburst? You put a like, then this.

    Checking crank seals with Freon.

What I did was quote the wrong post. Sorry.

    Checking crank seals with Freon.

You don't check crank seals with pressure. It might hide a leak. They have a tendency to lift under vac. That why its called a Vac/Press test. Unless I misunderstood something you posted.

He gave an update today. Seems the OP doesn’t impulse buy.

    288xp dying when rolled

Maybe recheck vac/press test. Do the vac first. Let it sit. If it holds, it holds.

Looking at either a Stihl 462 or 500i

All the new generation saws are fairly comfortable to use. So will agree. Some won’t. Why it took so long is anyone’s guess. My distributor didn’t know or were told to keep quiet.

    288xp dying when rolled

You can pressure test the lines. That’s the best way. Sometimes, if the saw is running a touch rich, it’ll create a small puddle of fuel in the intake. When you roll it, it dumps it. Just something to try.
