Daydreaming about a 90cc class saw

Wow, this thread is over a year old. FWIW, my MMWS ported MS461 has been doing just fine for me so far. Still dreaming of a 90+, but still can't justify the coin vs. the limited use.

    Red Oak log pricing

I'm no expert but that sounds like a pretty favorable price for yard trees you are showing. Not a lot of good quality saw log material in there. I'd sell 'em, pocket the cash and move on. However, only you can decide if they are more valuable to you for your OWB than for cash.

    Recommendations for a first saw

The Husky 555 and Echo 590 are often cited as great value saws, i.e. great performance at low cost (as @blsnelling has noted). I would add that a good used MS361 is also a great choice. I absolutely love my 361. It normally wears a 20" bar and full comp, full chisel chain. I've run it up to...

    Stihl 261 running issue

My MS261CM does the same thing when it's very hot outside. What have your temps been like? You can try the solenoid. I got a replacement free from my dealer when Itold him about this. It didn't change anything. The best I can say is try to avoid turning off for more than 1 minute or less...

    Husq bars/chains?

Sounds like way more work and cost than I'm willing to put into this saw. I'll just stick with the 0.325 narrow kerf.

    Husq bars/chains?

I'm mostly a Stihl guy, but got a Husq 543XP for a great price. I was thinking of switching it from 0.325 narrow kerf (Husq H30 / Oregon 95VPX) to Stihl 3/8 Picco PS3. Is this possible? Are there rims and bars that would match this saw to this chain? Please let me know.

    Husqvarna 450 or Dolmar 421?

Weight. To me, a 40 cc. saw is all about light weight. I have a very powerful 50 cc. saw, and a few bigger ones already. As a single saw, the Dolmar looks a really good saw for a really good price.

    Husqvarna 450 or Dolmar 421?

I was set on picking up a Dolmar 421 based on price and quality. However, Husqvarna is throwing in their 543xp's as a package deal with their zero-turn mowers. I was able to pick one up NIB for a major discount from a zero-turn buyer. It was a win-win deal. This is a quality, Japan-built saw...

Rebuild a pooched 461 or buy used 661?

If you "rebuild" the 461, consider rebuilding the oiler to high-output. Just a thought.(?)

Sold NEW NIB STIHL MS461 ARCTIC WRAP CHAINSAW POWERHEAD

Great saws! Not going to sell to USA. We can get them from our local dealers for less money and full warrantee. Sucks that the CDN$ is in the tank now, but don't worry, it will come back. I remember USD$0.72 - USD$1.35 / CDN$ over the last 20 yrs. GLWS.

    Model 461 questions please help

HO oiled just pumps more oil with the same size oil tank. In fact, it comes with a warning that it is possible to run out of oil before gas at the highest setting. In reality, I have not seen this, but my saw is ported, so it definitely goes through gas faster than OEM.

    28in stihl chains

As above, local dealer can spin anything. Otherwise, Frawley's saw shop (loggerchain.com) does a real a real nice job, fast and cheap, with Oregon chains.
