    690 Solo

I looked into those about a year ago, and was told that they never get any in anymore. Apparently, they just never update that web page.

    husky 2100 milling saw

It will work fine for milling, but you will be better off buying from the mill, unless you don't have anything else to do with your time.

    Need old Chev spindle

Thanks for the replies, I managed to find one. Actually, I picked up another '69 C30 at an auction, for parts, and guess what? the left front spindle was buggered up on it, too! But it does have a 2 foot longer wheelbase, so my old truck is now a parts truck for it. :dizzy: Anyhow...

    milling saw selection

Get the 3120. Or the equivalent. Milling is tough on the bottom end of the powerhead. The bigger the main bearings, the longer it will last. Many chainsaw millers even have the big saws modded. Buying a "compromise" saw for milling, felling and bucking is fine if you are only doing some milling...

    090 piston

There have been a couple on ebay, I think they had a "buy it now" price around $120 or so, new genuine factory part.

Wood milled w/ GB 36" mill!!

Weimedog, if you are using the oak for horse stalls, or any other such purpose, use it green. You will have a real hard time getting a nail thru it when it is dry, and there is no real benefit of drying it for this type of application. Ask any old farmer. If you do want to dry wood for other...

Wood milled w/ GB 36" mill!!

Yep, why use one nail when half a dozen will do the job just as well? I just hit some old fence and its related fasteners with my Peterson sawmill. Busted 5 teeth:mad: First time I've hit tramp in logs I've gotten from this particular source. I think I'm gonna just start using the metal detector...

    need o9o advice

Mine has the same carb. It's not the one they show in the manuals or parts list. The screws are in the back rather than on the side where the L and H are. It's been a while, but I think L is left and H is right. I would suggest completely dissassembling the carb, cleaning the parts, and...

    Change 084 to 3/8 from 404

Talk to Jeff Sikkema, he can get ( last I checked ) GB bars in .050ga. 3/8 or .325 pitch 36" and 42" I have the .325 42" on my 090, does real well for milling.

    Second try at milling

Yeah, it's hard to find them that size without some rot in the middle and/or around the knots. Whatcha gonna make with it? BlackSmith- no problem, did you get one?

    best all around chainsaw

The smallest I would want to mill with would be a 90cc saw such as husky 394, stihl066, dolmar/makita 9010. What size logs are we talking about?

What saw should I use for milling?

I'd say try both the 075 and the 056. I believe they have the same bar mount? See what works best. Well, actually the 066 would probably work best. What's this D-handle 090? got a pic? .404 works just fine for milling, especially with those big, slow saws w/ lots of torque. If you are wanting...

    First try at milling

Ahh, yes. This is the step where we admit we are powerless against the chainsaw. And, if not, we get a more powerful chainsaw.:D

    First try at milling

Hmm.. maybe this is a better pic. Hard to tell from the photo, but this staircase is 6 feet wide, the slabs range from 14" to 18", 3" thick.
