I have a John Deere CS46 and it is not a clamshell. I believe that the 40cc and under saws are clamshell design.

Techniplate I always used Klotz Techniplate when I raced model hydroplanes. It mixed great with the fuels that contained 45 percent alcohol and 40% nitro. These glow engines with tuned pipes turned from 20,000 to 28,000 RPM. Unbelievable how clean the combustion chambers stayed.
