    Quarter sawing

Just got some nice white oak logs. Would like to quarter saw them on my bandsaw mill. Anyone have any experience with this. According to my research you quarter the log and then rotate 90 degrees every cut. That would leave the boards with one live edge and the mill head would have to lift over...

    New mill area

Was having a hard time loading bigger logs on my trailer mounted mill. Been working on this area for some time now. Getting the concrete blocks here was a big challenge. Drivers kept flaking out, when I could find a driver the place would sell out. Finally the day comes and the truck driver is...

    Machining base without a lathe*

I've seen this question asked more than a few times over the years and thought I would take a shot at it. I'm more of a woodworker than a machinist so I had to figure out how to do this with woodworking tools. I did use a wood lathe but don't think it's entirely necessary. I used a router...

    Knockoff MS660

Would anyone really fall for this? I'd image someone in the market for a 660 would know a little something about chainsaws. What really gets me is the guys trying to pass it off as a real 660 for $800 when he knows damn well it's junk. http://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/grd/5650049898.html

    Jonsereds 80 rebuild

Working on this 80 that sat with the muffler and spark plug off for 5 years in a woodshop. Piston and cylinder looked fine but I pulled it to clean up the layer of sawdust that had accumulated on top of the piston. Found this damage on the intake side. Found a small pebble inside the case. I...

    076 cylinder opinion

Rebuilding an 076 and found this small chip in the plating. It's very low on the back side. You think this will be a problem. Ran when I purchased it. Compression was a little low if I remeber correctly. Haven't really used it yet. Opinions/input welcome. Thanks.
