Beautiful 405. Can't wait to see the full wrap on it. Max.

I wanted to provide additional views on the bottom of the handle as it mounts to the saw chassis. Pretty interesting. Max.

    Nik's Poulan Thread

Hey everyone, good afternoon. I saw the thread earlier in the week regarding Poulan 3400-4000 full wrap handles but became sidetracked. I found one on eBay years ago and have it mounted on a 4000 saw. I've cut with it once, really liked it, and haven't used it since I love full wrap handles...

Poulan Pro 395 with a chain brake. The PP395 has gray molded plastics instead of black and gray painted handles. Does it have an air filter in good usable condition? Those are now harder to find and becoming expensive. The PP4000 and PP395 are 65cc saws with their air filtration and muffler...

What saw would you grab right now.....

Stihl MS440. Great go to saw for most everything as equipped. Max.

Todd, your planning and execution are very strategic and well thought out. I can only imagine the time, effort, and energy spent on making this happen time after time, year after year. Great job, well done! Max.

Quote: I found out an old friend of mine right up the road had a old Poulan. Today I stopped by to see what he had and he had just got it home from his mechanic. He has the bow that came on it originally also . He said he would call me when it gets too heavy for him to use. He’s 70 and in good...

That's a beautiful saw. I've never seen a "Treemaster" branded Poulan before, and it has a chain brake as well. What's the backstory of how you acquired it? It should travel to Virginia, just saying! Enjoy, Max!

Is there a saw you never want to see again?

    Homelite 330. Engineering nightmare. Max.

Good posts all. Would the ring on the rear handle indicate possible tree service use at height or from a bucket? If so, verify the structural integrity of the handle as well. The saw could have been dropped from height or had something dropped on it. Better and cleaner examples are likely...

Great pictures, Gary! 4000's rock for what they are. Interesting how your bow bar saw has a spike attached to it. The 4000 BB I have is equipped the same way. Stay warm today, Max.

Okay, so I recently went to start my Poulan 5200 and it didn't act or run right. I went through the carb this week with a nice Tillotson kit and boy, it now runs great! Kevin, that's the full wrap I purchased from you a few years ago, and many thanks for that! This saw idles beautifully and...

So, to redeem myself here's my Poulan 8500 with a full wrap. While on vacation I'm going to replace the reproduction recoil cover decal with one of the NOS decals I came across on eBay. If anyone has a drive cover decal they'd like to part with, please let me know. Max.

All, I felt nostalgic and remembered the phrase "Pics Or It Didn't Happen". Here's Dad's blue and white XL-12, and that nasty stack muffler! The drive cover is NOS and I have the red one that replaced the original after a pinch in 1981. I know it's not a Poulan, but wanted to share. Max.

Okay Todd, here goes. I remember the day my Father bought the blue and white Homelite XL-12 I now have used from Charlie Nightkirk in Bluefield WV. Black case, some tools, and a red wedge. This was in the mid 1970's during the Carter administration, tough times for us. I called it the "ear...

I agree, it was a clean PP 395 with OEM chain brake and correct muffler. Nice example overall. Hope someone enjoys it!

Todd, thanks for sharing and what a beautiful example! I love the soft or squishy handles on the 8500's. I understand the satisfaction from parts chasing, whether it be for Poulans, Homelites, or trucks like my Father's K5 Chevy Blazers. Great job, good for you, and enjoy! Max!

Good call! The muffler, top cover, air filter (if it's there) and metal recoil workings are worth at least that in my opinion. Max.
