    ariens 22 ton log splitter

I think you'll be happy with the Ariens. I've had my 27t Ariens for many years and have had zero issues....great layout and built extremely well. Do not group these anywhere near the MTD clones....they are not part of MTD.

    splitter engines?

http://robinamerica.com/about.aspx Subaru small engines are top notch...they are not made in China and are at the level of Honda GX or better.

    Splitter only running on Choke

If you have access to an ultrasonic cleaner, pull it apart and drop it in for a couple hours. I've found that is the best way to restore a carb....

    splitter engines?

I'm a big fan of the Subaru Robin engines. I have a SP170 (6hp) on my splitter and an EX30 (10hp) for my generator. Not the cheapest small engine on the market, but I'd put them right with the GX Honda's. http://robinamerica.com/about.aspx

I run Stabil in non ethanol gas. Lucky to have a somewhat local supplier that sells this stuff....

Alternative heat sources. Is anyone using Kerosene heaters

We recently picked up a NG wall heater (30,000 btu) for the finished basement as we primarily heat with wood on the main floor - basement would turn into a fridge during the winter months. I have to say I'm very impressed with this unit - seems to just sip the NG but keeps the basement nice and...

    Bias truck tires

Not a whole lot to add as I run a tall skinny tire on my firewood rig...older Goodyear MT's (235/85/16 - E rating) and they get the job done when pulling wood from deep in the woods. I also see some discussion regarding snow tires. If you are driving in some deep snow / snowy / icy...

Ariens Log Splitters with Subaru engine

I've owned mine for several years with many, many cord split with it. Great splitter and have not had a single issue....the Robin engine is one of the best I've owned. I liked it so much, my next big purchase (generator) has one as well.

    looking for a splitter

I've been running an Ariens 27t for many years now (approx 20-25 cord split so far) - great splitter! The Subaru/Robin motor is really a solid small engine....quiet, powerful, reliable and sips fuel. I'm very impressed on how well the splitter is built... If you have any specific...

    Wood Hauler Pics

Most of the front end came from LMC Truck. radiator support fenders inner fenders grill with trim lights (marker and turn signals) If you had the option between OEM and aftermarket, I'd go for OEM...I think its a bit thicker. For what I plan on doing with the truck, aftermarket with a heavy...

    Wood Hauler Pics

this was buried in the thread many, many pages ago, but with the resurgence of old GM iron , I thought I'd put mine up again. Glad to see so many squares gett'in it done! I agree with RussHD, if the frame is good, fix that truck up! The one I have had the cab mounts and corners all redone (as...

    Good old beater truck?

Ford, Chevy, Dodge of that era...not much of a difference IMO as they all share quite a few drive train parts (NP205's, Dana 44HD's, full floating rears...etc). Pick anyone of 'em and enjoy the truck... :chainsaw: The only thing I want to do to my K20 is find a cheap set of lockers for the...

    Good old beater truck?

Yep, when its locked in 4 low using the creeper gear, its a tractor...I've crawled out of some gnarly stuff while hauling out firewood.

    Good old beater truck?

Trust me...you can't beat a late 70's or early 80's Chevy/GMC for wood hauling. Built like a tank and very simple to work on. Here is my 1976 K20. 350 with a SM465/NP205 drivetrain that is indestructible. I have 4:10 gears and get 11/12 mpg loaded down or unloaded - does not seem to matter...

    New Truck or New-ish Truck?

Yep, I have a 1976 Chevy K20 as my wood hauler. Simple, built like a tank, paid for and LOW operating/repair costs. MPG are not that bad actually...around 11-12mpg hauling wood on the highway. Best part is that if I scratch the paint or bump a fender while in the woods, I really don't care...

    Choosing a Log Splitter

I've had the Ariens for 2 years now (27 ton model)...probably have around 12-14 cord through it. Please do not confuse this with any MTD model - they are NOT the same - Ariens builds their own. I have been extremely happy with this splitter....build quality is top notch and very well thought...

    Real Huskee 22 Ton reviews

If you are interested in the details around the Ariens, let me know. I've had mine for close to 2 years with at least 12 cord under its belt. Long story short, I would buy it again if I had to do it all over. Robin engine is 2nd to none, the entire unit is built extremely well, the layout is...
