    Jotul 500 Oslo dreaming!

There is a break-in procedure outlined in the manual so I would follow that. Get yourself a thermometer that you can put on the top of the stove to keep track of temp. You basically start a series of small fires and gradually increase the temperature letting it cool to room temp in between.

    Jotul 500 Oslo dreaming!

I love the stove and would buy again. It heats my house well and the side loading door and 24" capacity are 2 key features that sold me. It's also nice and easy to clean out. And of course, it puts out a ton of heat and has good burn times.

    Jotul 500 Oslo dreaming!

I got my F500 installed 2 years ago and my dealer required having someone come out to verify the installation just so there were no issues before finalizing my order. I placed mine on my hearth and slightly inside my fireplace with the short leg kit similar to what you mentioned. My mantle is...

    Firewood- favorite saw

MS241 for 12" and under. 562xp for pretty much everything else. Usually only go to the MS460 when the wood is 30"+ which is rare.

Sold Stihl MS460 3/4 Wrap Handle

I have a basically brand new Stihl MS460 3/4 wrap handle that was on my saw for a short while before I switched back to the half wrap. There's some minor scuffs on the bottom as shown in the picture but that's about it. I believe the part no. is 1128 790 3616. I have the handle only, no extra...

What brand is your main firewood saw?

I use my 2x Stihls here but am debating a 562xp purchase in the near future. I've never had any reliability issues with all of the Stihls that I've owned over the years so I'm back and forth on the 562xp given some of the mixed reviews on reliability.

Chicago area loads firewood logs 250 bucks

I'm in the Boston area (which isn't totally unlike Chicago) and you'd have a tough time getting grapple loads delivered for under $100/cord. If I could get 4 cords for $250, I would in a heartbeat. Wood is popular around here and cords easily go in the $300+ range. There's profit to be made...

First impression of the Stihl 241c

No discount for me so I paid the DSRP - $559 + tax with a 16" bar. They didn't stock it so they had to order it. It only stings for a little bit. It was money well spent and I'd do it again.

562xp vs 555 vs 6100 stock shoot out

I thought the video was great also and always like seeing the Dolmars. I've never even seen one in person because there's like one dealer in the whole state. I was thinking the same thing on the cut times as I wondered how many cuts I actually make during a full day of cutting. For me a few...

Any Wallenstein WX520 owners out there?

Yes, another splitter thread... I'm shopping for my first splitter and was wondering if there were any Wallenstein users on here that have owned or used a WX520. A search turned up very little about this on here and I'm looking for some feedback on build quality, reliability, layout, etc. I'm...

    What are your firewood saws?

MS241c for 75% of the cutting and an MS460 for the bigger stuff. Before I joined here, all I ever needed was an MS290. Could probably still get away with that but...
