Want to Buy Stihl Bow Bars

I have one of the brush bars from Guido Salvage. It is a Commercial Bow Bar 20 X 7 1/2 with a medium Stihl mount and the number 620 stamped on it. It required no modification of the 026. Was a bolt on and run deal. Not for sale! I run the bar on my Stihl 026 PRO with LGX72 chain

    Husky 350

If you don't need a cylinder, a flat top 353 piston would give it a pretty good power boost. There's a reason the original cylinder is scored. Check the intake boot retainer. If plastic, it needs to be metal. Check under the muffler for the plastic being burned?

    Husky 350

The spring is retained by a screw. Reach down through the spring with a hex key wrench to remove the screw.

Learned something about crank seals tonight!

The Polymid plastic retainers will eventually break from heat etc. The plastic type retainers are considered better? However, the retainer material doesn't tear up the engine like a metal retainer does. With the retainer bad, eventually, the balls will bunch up on one side enough to lock the...

Dolmar 7900 HD filter kit worth it?

I've got a couple of those HD filter kits. So far - no problems. Had a operator used to a 6800i tried to twist the 7900 choke lever and off it came. I had to take the HD filter base off the 7900 to get the choke lever back in the hole. No big job.

    Stihl 021 carb tuning help

I have three of this family of Stihl. The impulse line connects to a nipple on the base of the cylinder and goes through a hole in the plastic heat shield and then connects to another nibble at the end of the boot near the carb. The impulse line has to be finally connected by reaching under...

    Bought a 550xp to replace Dolmar 420

115i vrs 550XP? The 115i is a favorite in the woods but getting beyond old friends, the 550XP has a lot more power and rpm and weighs less. Most 115i's and 550XP's had .325 chain. But I run 16" Power Match bars and 3/8" Stihl RS chain. 545 vrs 550XP I also have a 545 and it is actually more...

    Bought a 550xp to replace Dolmar 420

I've always liked the idea of a 420 but a friend was telling me that the 550XP doesn't weigh any more and has a lot more power. Is that your opinion? I've had a 550 XP a couple years.

Best chain grinding angles on Stihl RS ?

I bought a new loop of RS the other day and I noticed the hook angle was really sharp. It is certainly not the common 60 degrees. As sharp as it is, I have little hope of the edge holding more than just a few cuts. When it dulls, I'll re-sharpen at 30-60-10 on my Oregon 511A grinder and go on...
