My first Stihl 440 mod project

I get that too, and I assume its my browser intermittently not being happy with getting the javascript code off the server to make the drop-down menu work. Like Cut4fun said, just right click and select "open", and you'll get the advanced search page.

    Firewood sole income

By my math, approximately 3.6 cubic meters make up a cord (which is 128 cubic feet).

Check out Future Forestry's logging arches. I don't own one (but I sure would like to!).

    Mark a log for firewood?

My understanding of a "face cord" is 4' x 8' x (whatever length it is). By my math, a 16" "face cord" is 42.67 cu. ft., so it does add up to 128 cf, which is a cord. I guess Gypo uses Canadian math as suggested by chowdozer.

    wood delivered today pictures

I thought a "face cord" was four feet high by eight feet wide of whatever length the wood is cut to, be it 16" or 48". So, by that definition, since those look to be an average of 8' or so (maybe longer), by the definition of face cord, it would probably be about one face cord of 8' wood, and...

Chain saw as air travel luggage?

Keep in mind, the original poster is in Sweden, so TSA rules may not be the same as the rules with which he needs to contend.

Stihl's new throttle handle chain brake

Sure, but their newest redesign (not considering the 441, which isn't out yet), the 361, does have it as an option. Perhaps more to come?

    Mark a log for firewood?

Yes, but why waste time measuring, marking and then cutting when you can just measure and cut? Or for those that are daring enough, eyeball it, and just measure every once in a while to check accuracy. Or do we need to subscribe to the "measure twice, cut once" approach for firewood now...

    Mark a log for firewood?

And they break off real easy too. I think I went through two of the sticks (they send a 14", 16" and 18") on the first tree where I tried using it. I just use the bar as a guide now. From the spikes to the start of the sprocket nose on my ES bar is my guide on the MS361. Tip of bar to the...

Stihl's new throttle handle chain brake

Not on professional saws? Check again: MS 361 C-Q I wouldn't want it, but it's out there. Just so it doesn't become required or standard on most saws.

    Saw cleaning machine?

Cooking oil and petroleum based oil are two entirely different things. One big difference is that the cooking oil is significantly more biodegradeable. Why do you think there is stuff like bio bar oil available? Because there is a difference.

    Bleeding the hydrolic system

My splitter uses hyd fluid down to +10F, but calls for tranny fluid if I use it above 75F ambient temp. I guess that's what you get for having a 3.5 gallon reservoir on a 11 gpm pump.

    A Few Splitting Questions

Split the blocks right where they landed when you cut them off of the log. That way, you're only bending over to pick up the wood once, when its split up into smaller pieces.

    buy or build???? splitter

Few commercial splitters, especially the smaller ones, are going to split anything longer than 20 inches.
