    "You Suck" Thread 2023"--Pics required!

Was chatting to a mate of mine who had three saws to give away as he has got a good electric saw, some green saw, a Husky and a big loud Dolmar. I snapped up the Dolmar and swung him a bottle of rum, all he knows about it is its had the top end rebuilt. Came with two 32'' bars and chains, chains...

    Makita EA4300 Review

I love mine, great saw but not professional use, no coil issues but I do have a spare coil for it. Also not the saws fault you put crap bars on it and LP chain. If its a problem buy better bars and/or rim sprocket for it, I run 0.325 on a Oregon Micro lite bar.

    Dolmar 7900 questions

For me I've grabbed some filters, brake bands (broke one already) and plan on a coil. Mines a firewood saw so doesnt get heaps of use.

    Makita EA4300 surging at idle

As per the title, last week I took out my EA4300 for some firewood cutting while camping and I noticed between cuts the saw was carrying on and surging/speeding up at idle. In the cut at WOT rpm was consistent and how it has behaved in the past. I stopped, cracked the fuel tank cap and no more...

    Big Trees, small saws

Thought i'd throw this out if others have similar stories to share. About 11 years ago myself and a few mates did a 2 week trip around Tasmania, we had heard about a track we wanted to do had been shut for about 6-9 months, a tree had fallen into it. The track was a old railway cutting and...

I built my 6401 -> 7901 about a year ago, bolts in dry, torqued to spec not a problem since.

Makita 7900 HD air filter cover, gloss vs matte

Different generations of product, the current saws available for sale are matte and have been for a few years, hence why the HD kit is now matte only.

    Makita 7900 or 6400

I recently upgraded my 6401 to a 7901, with a 20" bar it's a bit faster, today I had a 28" bar on it and it rips. Stock except for a MM, it is much thirstier than when it was a 6401, but I don't mind.

    Aus chainsaw advice

I run my 7901 on the timbers mentioned around Vic, it rips, but I have never run a larger than 20'' bar, with a 8 pin rim drive it pulls easily. Standard is 7pin.

    best bar length for 7900

What is your saw model? Curious why it only goes to 12300rpm, I have a 7901, it is limited to 13,500 and I currently have it set to 13000

    the all aussie dribble thread!

I did some work on a mates Landcruiser, was a high kay box, crunched and slow to shift. Put in VMX-M and 500ml of 80/90 gear oil and transformed once warm, no crunch and you could hustle it through the gears. Did another 30K before the engine gave out.
