Echo CS 501P vs Stihl MS 260

I'm talking about those same "Jonsered's" Some don't like the crooked Husky handlebar. Like me.

Echo CS 501P vs Stihl MS 260

Yup, there's a fantasy land somewhere where Echo is in the hands of professionals. At least echo themselves are realistic. In over 35 years of working with hundreds (yes, hundreds) of sawhands I never saw an echo. Husky, Stihl, Jonsered, an occasional Dolmar. In that order. I have a 590. It's...

    3/16 vs 5/32 file

Get the husqvarna progressive raker gauge for your chain size. It's a ridiculously overpriced piece of tin (and they don't even dull it's sharp edge - ridiculous), but it's the only gauge I am aware of that sets each raker to its cutter. NSEric posted a pic of it a few replies back there..

Lots of good info in this thread.

    3/16 vs 5/32 file

A half used chain is just about where a chain really starts cutting good. There's more room for chips.

    Stihl MS362 owners

If you engage the choke when removing and reinstalling the two piece filter of the original model 362 it will allow a tiny bit more room to properly remove and install the filter. The linkage gets in the way unless the choke is engaged fully.

    Clogger Chainsaw Chaps Evaluation

They are priced according to import/exchange rate , perhaps even tariff? costs. Products that are imported from Australia and New Zealand have those costs attached, which exact a premium. That comment is not invalid. I said a couple of times "for me". That was for the folks who don't realize...

    Clogger Chainsaw Chaps Evaluation

100.00$ will buy excellent wrap chaps. Those cloggers look seriously overpriced to me. For my use, I wouldn't even consider them. All products from australia and new zealand are expensive due to exchange rates and such. Part of the cloggers high price is simply that. I only have two pairs of...

372 xt - Is there any hope or did I buy the wrong saw?

Your results may vary, but I was pleasantly surprised.

    Farmertec

Cylinder piston bearing? Wth! It's a wristpin bearing. Genuine super high quality. Maybe, maybe not. It's a very critical part. 68 cents seems a little cheap for a super high quality part. But you never know...

372 xt - Is there any hope or did I buy the wrong saw?

They are not necessarily cheaper in materials or construction. The "cheap" muffler I bought for my 2152 to replace the epa one seems to be just as solid as the stock one. Without all of the garbage inside. It was 20 bucks canadian at the time.

372 xt - Is there any hope or did I buy the wrong saw?

Not really. There are xp's and later, xt's

372 xt - Is there any hope or did I buy the wrong saw?

While you say all that, look in the mirror. You were asked an innocent question. And then immediately went off. The xt is a good saw. The early ones, no. But Husky got them sorted.

Just a question about an old 036

It's an old saw. It should respond properly to tuning. Learn how to tune. You don't need a tach. Once you learn how to tune a saw you will find that you will tune it slightly differently for different applications; for example, you may want it zingy and quick for lots of limbing and falling...

How do I release stuck chain brake? (Makita DCS6421)

Can't you just take out that little "keeper" screw and pry the band out of there? A little tugging on the band with a blunt pick around the drum might get the band out. Then the rest of the mechanism will be loosened up. Or not..

What are your thoughts on this vid?

Wow. Vet services are rapidly becoming dismal here too. The old grizzled vets who knew all aspects of country vet work retired a few years ago. The youngsters that are at it now are not in the same league. Not even close. Here's a tidbit: in Canada there are three corporations that are buying...

    Partner 5000 plus

Not sure, but any windowed piston of the right diameter should work. Tho it might require some clearancing. This is more of a "bump" than anything to defer to someone who knows for sure. Another thing, I think a husky 50 is similar.. This thread would get more traction in the "chainsaw"...
