    Granfors Bruks

Get the Scandinavian forest axe. This is a great axe. 25” handle. 2.5 lbs. excellent general purpose axe. https://www.gransforsbruk.com/en/product/gransfors-scandinavian-forest-axe/ I also have the American felling axe, but it’s to big for anything but full swings when chopping or pounding wedges.

    Axe ID Help

Recently came by a couple old axe heads at a garage sale (giveaway). One is a 4lb Evansville. Nice axe, minimal use. The other has no markings but is no doubt 40+ years old. Homeowner claimed he got them from his father in law when he and his wife got married. He’s 67 now. It’s a 4.5lb...

Chain for MS461 with 32" ES Bar (0.375" pitch, 0.050" guage)

The best reason to pick up a skip sequence chain in that length is because it's easier to sharpen. Full comp in a 32" has, what, 34 cutters? Skip would be ~22-23 cutters with skip.

Echo CS-590 timberwolf vs. Echo CS-600P

They're basically the same saw. But one has 8 more cc's. Why would the more powerful saw on the same platform be the pig?

    Porting - Performance Measured?

I may be wrong, but I think the best way to dyno a chainsaw would be electronically measuring with an induction generator. If that makes sense. That seems like it would be very accurate and then simply converting the Kw to HP. (746watts to 1 HP, as I recall) Just crank up the the current...

ok got a itch for awhile to try echo 600p or new timberwolf 600 for firewood cutting

Btw, I was out cutting with my 600 today and was reminded what a great saw it is. Had the 18" bar buried in ash and it was pouring the chips out like a blizzard. Great torque and throttle response on that thing, nice exhaust note as well.

ok got a itch for awhile to try echo 600p or new timberwolf 600 for firewood cutting

I'm pretty sure both are inboard clutches. The cylinder was updated from the first gen 600 to the second gen. The 590 got the 1st gen 600 jug. The new 600 jug is the sane as the 620. The 620 upgrade is the mag clutch cover, new bigger spikes, and wrap handle option.

Proper positioning for cutting big wood while on spurs.

I don't do a ton of topping but what I have noticed is when I'm blocking down med-big wood. I don't always make both cuts from one position. And sometimes my position will be different for the same cut. I will even reposition halfway through a face cut on big wood (>18") I like to choke my...

50 gauge low profile chain for CS-355T

I'm confused. I have a 355t and I run stihl ps3. I'm pretty sure the stock bar on the echo is in fact .050 LP.

Prusik adjuster for wire core flip line

I switched back to a hip VT and micro pulley from a petzl micro grab on my 1/2" flipline. I don't like cam flipline adjusters. You can't let out any slack under load. That's a deal breaker for me. Just stick with a prussik/vt and save the $

    Srt Rope

That stuff is pricey as I recall. If it's strictly an SRT rope. I'd go 10 or 11mm kernmantle. The NE KM-II is good rope. Sterling HTP is also good but gets a little mushy in the larger diameters. PMI max wear sheath classic wears like steel cable and has been a staple for cavers for almost 30...
