Greetings,

If there's a better place on the forum for this please say so. I have an old tiny gold pin I inherited from my father, but I will guess it predates him. There were many lumberman, carpenters, woodworkers etc in our family history on the East Coast, and I wonder if this pin is from a Guild or Society or something? Shown pictured next to a penny for scale. The image is of an old tool for measuring how much lumber a given log would yield, correct?

Thanks, Peter.

That's a tree caliper, which is more a forestry tool than a logging one, so maybe a forestry society? I know I've never seen this one before.
