Muffler mod

    So is there any flow advantage putting in a pipe over just having a hole or is it strictly cosmetic?

    Only if you want to direct the exhaust in a particular direction, like away from your hands, saw components, and the wood you're cutting. You should also have a screen over the opening to catch any sparks.
