While many members here consider me a loser, shadetree hack, comedian,
etc.. I feel it is time for me to come out of the closet, as my goals in life have been reduced to not too ambitous, but I feel that we only go around once, life is too short to drink cheap beer, except I drink cheap beer,
a lot of it, etc ...

Growing up as a kid, I idolized Jerimiah Johnson, Grizzly Adams, Clint Eastwood
Ansel Adams, living off the land, Cher, John Wayne, etc.

When I got married, I either wanted a place on a lake, which I did from 1990
until 2005, then we moved to a farm, which is where I am now. I will have
to save and get a tractor, and each step is small, but I love it.

This thread is started for guys that want to share their dream, and this is the
place to do it, as I will say the word "Chainsaw".....

I have started some interesting weed control ideas, as well as hired a bunch of chickens to assist me in the "Fisherizing" processes, no worries, these
Chickens are Methodist, one of them was a Catholic as a chick, but she
reformed.

No, this thread is about you/us, what we do, our home life, garden, etc...

If I couldn't have this life, I would settle for being the frycook at the
Louisville "Hooter's"

Here is a pic of my new coop, my beautiful rose bush, and my experimental
garden.....

Fish, I started my first veg garden this year. A couple weeks ago I started using simple miracle grow, and I cant believe what it has done for everything. I also used it on a rose bush I have had for 4 years, and it now has 3 times more roses than it ever has. Is miracle grow common knowledge in the gardening world?

Nice looking garden and rose bush!

Yes & Yes!

My garden is in. I feed MG to tomatoes throughout their growth. IIRC there is a formula just for them and I get it if I can find it, otherwise I just get the flower & veg type. Also feed the green peppers, broccoli. etc.

Garden Cheers....

Well at least you were not idolizing Gomez Addams. Chicken’s is like lizards with wings. Nasty beasties. If you are in want of good eggs, try switching to ducks. Your landscape will thank you for it and raising ducks is way cooler than chickens. Has the forum become this much of a boor??

I have some friends out here that raise cattle. My wife called one of them a farmer and I chided her because I thought they liked to be called ranchers. Am I wrong? Fisher cut bait! Mike

No, you are not wrong, calling a rancher a farmer is bad. Like calling me a landscaper. actually worse than that. Tell her not to do that agian, some ranchers hold grudges and so forth.

Never too late to have a happy childhood!

Fish, I think sometimes we spend our whole life not really knowing what we want to do. Right now I am putting in garden, studying navigation, experimenting, finishing up a Whitehall rowboat I built, occasionally doing some more firewood for three years hence. Time for meditating, contemplating, cogitating and navel gazing!
Here is some of my garden and greenhouse from a couple years ago and the boat "MissFit" first time in the water.

The difference out here between farmers and ranchers is, "farmers have manure spreaders, ranchers don't" There are also cattlemen and men with cattle.
