When Stihl deals you an odd hand, the solution has to get a little creative as well. This is the non-Mahle, Stihl cylinder that came on my MS440, probably one of the last produced. It has a very rough sand cast finish in the combustion chamber and is very irregularly shaped. So when trying to maximize compression with a popup on the piston crown, the shape had to be just as irregular, or loose volume displacement.
