Found this saw in Austria. Just arrived today.
1967 Stihl E30 electric chainsaw. It came with
a 20 inch B+C but from what i have found it
could have been bought with a max 36 incher.
So i just happened to have one. It uses the
large 14mm Stihl mount like the 076,084,088
saws. This has got to be my heaviest saw yet.
Weighs in at 41 lbs. with the shorter bar.
Runs on 3 phase power. When i saw it i just had
to have it for the collection.

how many kW/HP? About 99% sure they use 50hz power all over europe (they do in UK, France and Spain for sure) so you might have issues running it unless you set a generator up... I bet it has scary torque!

Man that's awesome! From the looks of the build and dawg size it must be a torque monster. 3 pole but what voltage?

The tag says 220/380 volts.

Wow now thats an electric saw. the real question is does it work?

probably tough finding power for that bad boy. very cool. where did you find it?

I sure hope it works. By the looks of it, It hasn't seen much use.
This thing is super clean.

It has 2700 watts, It is 50hz. I hope to someday try it out.

Electric equels instant torque! Its either on or off, I bet that would be a handful. All you need is a trailer mounted genset powered by a Detroit and then you have some noise!

Interesting thread.
That saw is slightly different than mine as it's
220/440 and 60hz. It may have more power
than mine. Not sure as i'm no electrical expert.

Lee, electric saws were used a lot back in the 40's 50's and 60's. I got a taste of them in the early 70's behind a D2 cat and run off a generator. 40" bars, 1/2" chain and weighed 80lbs. You could see the teeth turn slowly on the bar, but you could dog it in, put your feet on the tree and pull as hard as you could. Tons of torque! Don't know who made the saw, but I'm sure they were USA made. Flat ground, big pine, was the perfect thing for the electric saws.

If theres no circuit board which there isnt im sure 50hz or 60hz it doesnt matter. 60hz would produce more rpms tho. We test 50hz 3 phase motors at work on 60hz all the time.

A Detroit powered gen set would be the only time id feel right about running an electric chain saw. Love me a Detroit
