. I know this is not new but I've noticed they're targeting smaller areas in Kansas now. Some months ago it was showing up in the big city ads frequently. I've looked at the sorrounding search areas on KS and OK Craigslist and posted scam warnings where I found the 880 ad. That is the point of this post, that you might check the lesser known areas on CL in your area and put a warning up if you find this scam has reentered (or never left) your area. If you're unfamiliar with this scam, go to Southwest KS Craigslist and search Stihl. You'll see an add picturing a new in box Stihl. This is just a people looking out for people post. Thanks for reading this.

The price listed is always $600, way below what a legit saw would go for. The scam is that there is no saw for sale, they get your money, you get the shaft. I don't even know who "they" are because I've never taken the bait on this but there are others who know more about it than I do. Hopefully they will chime in with more specific information. You can find more on it by doing a search since this isn't the first post on this particular scam. Thanks for reading and asking questions. That's the point of my post, to make more people aware of this. I hate thieves.

Hi Jack. Go to Kansas Craiglist and go to Wichita. When that comes up there will be a row of other areas on the right of your screen. Choose Southwest KS and look up Stihl Magnum.

I'm still confused how they would get my money because unless I had the saw in my hands my money would be still in my pocket lol

That was posted in Az a couple of months ago for quite a while all over the state.
You'd be surprised how many people fall for it. If it wasn't working, they'd stop running the ads.

I think if you contact him about wanting to buy the saw he sends you a link to his "company's website" which is a bulk wholesale kind of warehouse. You buy the saw on the website with a debit or credit card and giving him free rein of your account. Im sure there is spots to enter your email to get on the site so, if you dont try to buy the saw, he can sell your email to ad companies.

The CL ad i always saw was for a NIB ms880 for $600. With a brochure discription of a 880 with no infomation other then contact info.

Never hand over cash unless looking at whats for sale and its in arm reach. Also keep my 45 close. Never been scammed lol.

I've seen this ad in Nor. Cal craigslist and I've flagged it a few times but it doesn't seem to go away.

Is the 660 posted above a scam?

It looks legit but I don't see any phone number listed.

The MS880 adds are obviously a scam

The ad for the 660 looks real. There's a little button in the top left corner that says "contact". If you click that button, a menu drops down with a phone number and email address...
