Why is it so stinkin' hard to buy a chainsaw...

Gary
Because I don't want to end up in a situation where I wished I had bought the other one.

I'm thankfull of everyones input, it is really appreciated.

Then buy them both. :bang:

FFS whatever one you buy will be fine... But the 2 you are comparing are 2 completely different animals.

Gary
I wish I could, the wife would want my manhood back at that point. She knows I need a better chainsaw, not chainsaws.

The 460 is designed to be a professional timber falling saw...

The 361 is a midrange professional saw...

Both have price tags that are not very homeowner friendly.

A modded 361 will not have the grunt a 460 has... ever.

Get a 361 and be done with it.

Gary

3 weeks ago, I would have said, "Get a 361, it'll do fine with a 24" bar and skip chain." Now, post 372xp, I say get the 460 and don't look back. You won't regret it. When it's purring through those 24" rounds there will be a huge grin on your face. Get a helmet with a face shield tho, it'll help keep the chips out of your teeth. :hmm3grin2orange:

MS460. Get it with a 24" or 28" bar for the larger stuff, and an 18" or 20" for the smaller stuff. You'll be a happy cutter with the sort of stuff we have in SE Michigan!
I'm leaning this way. The MS460 comes with the 24" bar, I will probably get a shorter bar also. That old 16 lb 031 never phased me with the weight.............thought it was lighter though until I weighed it.:jawdrop:

Awwwwwww now we see what the problem is. Ok, heres what ya do. Get the 460 and use it for about 3 months. Tell the Mrs wow that saw sure cuts nice but its kinda hard on my back. Say its great for blocking but sure gets heavy limbing. Act ya like ya back is killing you and she will say well honey you need a smaller limbing saw. Act like you don't want another but merely say well yeah I guess your right dear while rubbing your back. Hint hint, Christmas is how far away, hehehehehe, let her buy you the other saw. You just keep that backache till your new other saw is under the tree, hot diggy dog. (be sure she know's what model you want, hehe)

But if you have to act like the saw is that bad on the back and you are hurting so much, you can't...small price to pay i guess!

With 20 inch bars on both the 441 and 460 the race is too close to call, in fact the 441 may inch out ahead. With real long bars, 30 or better the 460 kicks in with the torque. When it come to running them the 441 feels like a Caddliac, super smooth. I own both and the 046/460 plays second fiddle now, the 441 is just too smooth not to use.

BTW, pretty saw there!!

A slight side-step, there is absolutely no felt wibes in the 372xp, in the cut, and little out of it, with my Arthritis riddled fingers - it can't get better than that......:D :rockn: :rockn:

The 361 is also really good in the cut, but not as good out of it (doesn't matter much though, as it then is in my "good" hand only)......

Get the 460 with the 25" ES bar, grab a few extra chains and be happy. Forget the shorter bars, the 460 balances about perfect and is very happy with that bar, and a shorter bar will be awkward unles you are just cutting cookies at a race!

If he is worried about vibes then he wants the 441...

Plus a dual port muffler cover. I researched this dual port cover deal.............now I have wood!.

As Tom has already stated, Sounds like your mind is already made up. Let us know how you like that there 460.:chainsawguy:

It will be a few weeks or so, I just got hit with a $950.00 garage door. When you buy a new house, they give you junk doors and etc. Well the spring took a crap, a upgrade spring costs $250.00, but will not work on another door. So I took one for the team and ordered a new insulated garage door.
