I reverse engineered a stihl 031AV condenser.
I replaced it with a capacitor from Wima. It is an MKP4 0.22uF 630Volt 10%.
I started the saw at dusk with the pull start off and the windows in the flywheel open. I could not detect any arching on the points so I am calling it a good fix.
To install the capacitor....I soldered a couple wires to it and crimped 1 to the points and the other to one of the point mounting screws. I glued the capacitor to the block right next to the original condenser location using form-a-gasket.
Works great and hope this helps someone.
I have been reading this site for a couple years and decided I could finally contribute.
