Silvey round grinder & Simington square grinder mounted together.
really saves on floor space, which is at a premium in my garage.

Silvey round grinder is my latest find for $125... popped on craigslist last night at 9:30pm... sent a "I'll take it" within a minute of finding listing. came with heavy duty stand, spinner and chain breaker.

drove out to Checotah, OK to pick up. they actually met me 1/2 way from Eufaula. country folks are very gracious!

grinder disc got broken during Silvey's last move. will order right away, can't wait to try it out.

been digging all night and can't find much information on the new (to me) Silvey round grinder.

from what I can tell, it's a Silvey model 300 ... it uses a 6in wheel x 7/8 arbor. it's very precision made!

does anyone have any information about this grinder?

update...

Those Silvey folks are really gracious... excellent support!

just received two Silvey grinder discs and most importantly a owners manual. positive id as a model 300. serial numbers are on side of base.

takes a 5 3/4 in x 1in arbor. got both thin (1/4in/.325) and thick disc for 3/8 chain.

just finished shaping disc with ruff stone. then used built-in finish stone for final profile.

This Silvey is built to precision tolerances. grinder head has a up/down knob and all sorts of other adjustments.

Got a Silvey just like that one. Broke the arm aff somehow and now use it only for rakers. Just got my new Silvey (cost me 700 some bucks) but the other one was so good I thought I'd get another (had the other since high school). Yours will work very good, but they have not made that model for a long time.

Silvey has a really positive tooth holder.

just starting to fine tune adjustments. finding out thin disc works for 3/8 too, if profile is correct.

On my 510 I found the stock resinoid wheels (tried 2 different ones) slow cutting and they cut kind of hot. With some asking around,I realized you could use the friable stones like on my Pro Sharp on the 510.

I have been running a blue ceramic wheel on my 510 for a few years now and am much happier with the setup. Cuts (grinds) literally 3 or 4 times as fast, much cooler and comparable tooth finish.

The difference especially when grinding a rocked chain is astounding.

someone just posted a simington 450 square grinder on craigslist
